    Motor mount question on transom

I have a '72 Starcraft (aluminum) and I'm mounting a '98 Yamaha 115 on it. The transom is 1 3/4" wide and the bracket on the Yamaha is 3 1/4". Does that make any difference when I mount it that the bracket is that much bigger or do I need to put in some type of spacer? Thanks for your help!

How do you know if oil injection system is working correctly?

I have '98 Yamaha 115 2 stroke that I just bought and I've always pre-mixed my fuel. I'm thinking I will leave the oil injection system on the motor if everything is in good working order. I know that there is a low oil alarm but other than that, how do you know if it's working correctly...

Can someone walk me through the process of removing...

    '73 Evinrude 115 - A lot of smoke!

Took my '73 Evinrude 115 out for the first time today. It really ran well but I noticed a lot of exhaust smoke and the smell of gas every now and then. I rebuilt the carbs three years ago and am wondering if it's time to do it again. Or should I try some adjustments? Not sure what I should do at...

How to hook up 3 way toggle for new bilge pump

I've bought a new bilge pump that has three wires coming out of it. One is labeled automatic, one is labeled manual and one is a ground. I thought a 3 way switch would be a good switch for this so I could either leave it on automatic or I could turn it on manual to test it before heading out...

'73 Evinrude 115 - Fuel Delivery Problem - Best clamps to use?

I have a '73 Evinrude 115. I took it out for the first time this year a couple of weeks ago. I started it in the driveway to make sure it was running and I noticed that the primer bulb was extremely hard, so I replaced it with a new primer bulb that I had. The boat ran well at lower speeds but I...

How much is this motor worth? How do you find out?

I'm looking at a 1998 Johnson 90 and I'm trying to figure out what it's worth. I just looked at NADA's site and it valued the average retail at about $1000. That seems really low. If I try to find others for sale through want ads, they're mostly around $3000. Is there another site I should be...

Motor replacement suggestion for '72 Starcraft

I have a 21 foot 1972 Starcraft with a 1973 Evinrude 115 on it right now. I'm looking to get a little newer motor for it. Because of budget constraints, I'm thinking a motor made in the early 1990's in the 115 HP range. 115 seems to work well with it but I could go a little higher HP or lower if...
