    Shift Cable?

    With my out drive down and straight shifting works fine but when i turn the wheel or raise the out drive it seems to be impossible to find neutral and shifting is noisey in any position. This is with the boat out of the water. What gives?

    RPM,S and MPH For a 228

    Got my first boat. Fixer upper. It is a 1980 20 FT Wellcraft. Can some one tell me the max rpm and mph to expect? I think the out drive is a 50 to 1. Not sure about the pitch on the prop .Sure that dont help. O yea. 228 305 with a 4 barrel carb. Thanks Chris

    Cant get my out drive back on

    Alpha One going onto a 1980 boat with a GM 305. Just would no make the last 3/4 of a inch going into the transom. Made sure the gear shifter was in forward on the boat and OD. Made sure the shifter cable thing was going into the OD right. Did a little hammering with a block of wood but no good...

    Seal?

    Going to put my out drive together tomorrow and there is something I need to know. I just cant find any info on what seals the water tube in the upper to plastic one that sticks out of the water pump. Dose the metal upper tube go all the way down to the seal at the bottom of the plastic tube?

    This CANT be right!

    Or is it? Just got a new gimble bearing and there is a grease hole in the outer ring between the metal band but there is no hole for grease to get to the bearing. Shouldnt there be a hole in the bearing that is pressed into the ring that lines up with the hole in the outer ring? Hard to explane...

    Am I Missing Something?

    Is there a gasket that goes between the upper and lower gear case of a Alpha one stern drive. Cant seem to find one online.
