    Just closing this out. Seems that cleaning the Vaccum Piston may have been the issue. Hope so anyway. Seems to run smoothly through the revs. Only on muffs currently, will get on the water and report, but I just broke something unrelated so back to the parts shop. 🤦‍♂️

    So, i took the carby off and re-cleaned it, with attention paid to the vacuum piston. I couldn't get it out and didn't want to risk breaking it so cleaned it best I could.     I didn't actually measure the resistance. It was a cup of coffee i had been drinking while thinking what to do next. Ill have another go at it if the ground idea doesnt work and report back with some resistance readings.

    Thanks dodge. Ill try the grounding and revert. Stingray, i don't have an infrared temp gauge. If not the ground, it doesn't leave a lot of other options other than the thermostat i guess???
