1995 45 HP Mariner Outboard- good motor?

Considering buying a boat used with this motor. Is this owned by Mercury? Good motors at 45 hp? How fast can they push a 14 speedboat? Reliable motor? Is it 2 cycle and 50 to 1 ratio? ANY motor info would be great!

Please help me with 15' 45 mariner purchase...

So this boat is a boat locally for sale. Runs great no issues. Best offer available. Believes engine is a 95, but not positive and boat is a 94. With trailer. What would be a fair offer and anyone know anything about this boat and/ or 45 Marinet? Thanks all

1972 50 HP Johnson. Cold outside? Won't start.

Had carbs rebuilt professionally. Takes long time to start. Good compression. But it takes very long time to start. Is there any tricks we can try at dock to start the cold engine? Once it's running it goes GREAT... Is there a spray or something we can spray somewhere trying to start it? If so...

Hand Wheel Coupler Works Way Loose

I just don't know why. It works its way loose no matter how hard I turn it clockwise to lock. Maybe it's old. I can't find a cheap replacement part either. I'd love to switch to a latch coupler, but not a welder. Not sure.

    1985 85 Evinrude? Good motor?

Looking at buying a boat with one. Says runs good. 15 foot 1985 bass boat with this motor for 2000$. Will this motor cost more to maintain than the other boat I'm looking at? A 1974 25 hp evinrude? Or size of engine doesn't matter?

Considering buying a 15' MonArk Bass Boat 1985 with 85 h.p. Evinrude Outboard

He's asking $2000. Looks to be in good condition. Is this a good year for the boat and engine for Evinrude, 1978 and is the 85 hp a good motor? Also, a dumb question... is a smaller evinrude that is 25 horsepower going to be less expensive and less costly to maintain than a 85 horse power one...

1988 45 H.P. Mariner Outboard? Any good if taken care of?

Looking to buy a boat with this engine. Is a mariner 45 from 1988 a problem engine or a good outboard? Any insight?

A bass boat; only two seats, but one on deck? Practicality of riding?

So, never owned a bass boat. Looking to buy one. A bit confused on these though. So the one I'm looking at is 17 feet, but only has two 'seats' inside the hull near the steering wheel. The other two are fishing seats on the deck on a post. Can you ride on these seats on the deck on the poll...

Thoughts on 1974 Evinrude 25 h.p.? Considering purchasing a boat with one...

The owner indicates that the engine runs good, used to have a rough idle. He rebuilt the carbs and runs great now. Any idea if these 1974 Evinrude 1974 engines are good? The boat is in pretty good shape and I'm just wondering about this particular motor. Any thoughts? thanks all

    Fuel line adapter confusion...

So a person selling a fuel line adapter that looks just like the one I have for our 72 Johnson 50 hp engine has it listed as 'Yamaha'.... but it looks like the other one on our fuel tank for the Johnson. Anyhow, will this work...

I win Moron Boater of the Year 2011 (Thus Far)?

So... I'm always quick to be able to rip on myself when I've done something moronic... yup, I have... So last year I got a complete overhaul of the carburetors on my 1972 Johnson 50 HP. I got out on the Lake and it bogged down after 15 minutes of cruising. I tried 'everything' I thought to...

Rich/ Lean Tab loose, boat bogs after 15 minutes, was running great last year

Last year we got a complete carb rebuild, ran great, had it winterized, ran it for 15 minutes this year and was running great. Then the bad news started in boat engine world. The 1972 50 hp Johnson started bogging down and we trickled back the the dock at half throttle going barely any speed...

Seafoam (Revisited): Talked to Marina, but still confused on its use...

So in a nutshell last year we got a complete car rebuild done on our 1972 Johnson 50 hp. It runs like a charm going into winter. I had it completely winterized by the Marina; since, I don't know crap about engines. That being said, this year I talked to the marina and they said due to all the...

A dilemma: Lots of work done, no lake to test on near shop.

So I have an old 1970s 50 hp Johnson outboard. The motor hasn't run right from day 1. It would stall out in gear, 'cough' when WOT, but run GREAT on ear muffs. Although it would take lots of starts on muffs. So, I finally got it to a reputable mechanic. He determined great compression...

Update: Carbs being rebuilt, but should I buy new tank?

I know I've been a pain, one even called it SPAM. It's far from that, but rather a person who bought a boat and was fearing it was a lemon. Anyways, had the compression test done on the 50 hp Johnson/ Evinrude. Thank goodness, it checked out okay. Part of my posts that I forgot to mention is...

    Time to rebuild carbs?

1972 Johnson 50 hp. Runs good and shifts okay on ear muffs. As soon as engine is put into gear IN WATER, it stalls out. The boat was winterized and did sit for a full year before use. It had to work out some bad gas, mixed with new premium fuel. Is it a good time for a carb rebuild...

Please help ease my anxiety... if possible.

Well, I'll condense the latest on my boat purchase saga. To say I'm disappointed and nervous wouldn't suffice. Here's the deal: bought a used boat, which was tested and shown to run great on ear muffs. Ran for a day, it handled okay, but 'sputtery' and never seemed to reach full potential of...

What work should I have done by Mechanic? 1972 50 hp Johnson

AS you've probably previously read, my boat is a cold start, but moreover stalls out OFTEN while putting it from neutral to reverse or forward in water. Does fine on Ear-muffs. So I spoke with a great priced local mechanic who does work away from a Marina. He said it likely needs a...
