    LiFePO Batteries ???

RE: LiTime . . . My replacement battery should be delivered today  I did not think it would come this quickly. :)

    BMW headlight . . . $1,000 !!!

For some unknown reason the left headlight on my car has begun to fog up with obvious moisture/water inside. Upon some research, I have discovered that the headlight (really a headlight assembly) is supposed to be completely sealed. Somehow the driver side headlight has developed a crack of...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

I have the previous model (Orion TR Smart 12 | 12 30) It does the voltage sensing as well as the engine sensing and ignition feed, which I had set last year in response to the engine throwing fits at idle speeds. The XS model was released last year (IIRC), but not readily available at the...

Yea, all this stuff works in theory . . . :ROFLMAO:

    LiFePO Batteries ???

In other news . . . I am wanting to get the RS485/USB cable for my DuoRacer controller so I can tweak the parameters for the batteries. It seems that the batteries are saying that they are full (and shutting off charging input) a wee bit before the DuoRacer thinks they are full. I keep seeing...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

A nice thing about LiTime from my experience is that they have been responsive. We shall see how things go with the battery that I returned. It arrived (Chino, CA) on Monday. As for the new one I bought . . . it seems to be fine. I ran the inverter powering the shop vacuum, drawing 50 amps...

Vinyl Plank Flooring Installation Decision ???

Yes, I'd probably do re-facing of the cabinets and drawers as well as a new countertop. . . when the time comes. My Dad built (had built) this house in 1992 ish. Kitchen and baths are all "builder's grade" kind of stuff. He didn't really go for the fancy stuff.

Vinyl Plank Flooring Installation Decision ???

Too late . . . Actually, the primary motivation in doing the work was to get new appliances . . . which then led to the floor, which lead to painting, and then the back splash, because the old oven/range (with second over over the range) was no longer made, nor desired. We drew the line...

    Engine install checklist

IIRC, the bullet connectors for the trim senders are matched male/female such that they cannot be mistaken (if/when it matters). . . but you will want to make sure you have the sender vs. the limit switch wiring sorted out and tied (somehow) to an area of the transom that will be within reach...

    Boat budget question

The Admiral usually sets aside about $500-1,000 for 'boat bucks' each year. I routinely spend $4,000-5,000 per year on the boat. It's been that way for 12+ years . . . It never seems to make it to the budget though . . . . My bare-bones annual maintenance and fees runs about $1,800...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

The Admiral and I will be house-hunting in the next year or so . . . Having adequate space for cars, and all the toys will be top of my list. Not sure I'll be able to find something with a barn, never mind 13 ft high doors . . . but we shall see. In other news, the 'defective' battery is now...

Vinyl Plank Flooring Installation Decision ???

If the flooring wasn't enough 'fun', I am also installing backsplash tile. This is where the new oven will go. . . Prior to the tile was the range hood, which needed duct work to the outside. That slowed me down for a day or 2. I am at a point where I am assigning boat preparation duties to...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

It's raining so the solar charging is a bust for the rest of the day. I hooked up the AC power and ran the inverter charging. It went into bulk mode for a few minutes (20 amps), then went into absorption mode . . . was pulling 1-2 amps. I'll see how things look in the AM.

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Quick update . . . Yesterday, I let the new battery come down to a resting voltage, which it did after a while. 13.24 volts. Checking it again in the AM it was 13.22 volts. So, about 70% charge per the voltage chart. I decided to give it a few more % of charge and hooked the charger up for...

N Y requires everyone to pass a powerboat operators license

MA is getting in the game as well. "Massachusetts requires a Boater Safety Certificate for anyone born after January 1, 1989, who wants to operate a motorboat or personal watercraft. This is also known as a boating license. The deadline to obtain the certificate is April 1, 2026 for those born...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

I'd like to put my boat under cover for the winter, but it stands a little over 12 ft high on the trailer. Maybe something to think about in the future. . I checked on the batteries after charging for about 2.5 hours (@ 20 amps) (13.48 volts). I'll have to see what the 'at rest' voltage...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

My concern is that while the batteries are installed in the boat, it is supplying power (and small amounts of current) to the various systems throughout the boat. Mostly the inverter, but there is other stuff like CO detector and stereo keep-alive. So, even though there is some loss within the...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

I’m not sure if all LFP batteries are the same, but . . . The cold protection in my batteries stops charging @ 32F, but the discharging keeps going until about 4F. So, with my boat, which has a lot of parasitic loads, the batteries run down.
