    LiFePO Batteries ???

Quick update . . . The defective battery is on its way back to LiTime and a new (presumably 3rd) battery should arrive later this week. The solar charging system that I made/installed last year is doing its thing.

Should I buy a boat without a survey?

What is wrong with this picture? $40K for a 20+ year old sailboat with a salvage title. Seems a little bit steep (OK, a lot steep) I suppose you are going to play a guessing game with us . . . So, my guess is that it is a Dragonfly. Would you care to tell us the length?

    LiFePO Batteries ???

@cyclops222 . . . I have SLA batteries for the engines. The other loads are run on the LiFePO4 batteries. The main wiring feeds are 00 gauge.

What kind of damage from an I/O in salt water for 2-3 years?

As stated . . . (Bayliner) + (1991) + (I/O 2-3 years in salt water) = the concerns You would not only want to verify the condition of the outdrive, but also the condition of the boat's structure. You mentioned that you did not want to get into a structural restoration project, just purely...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

I ordered another battery . . . Same as the others. Not sure how long the replacement will take and I did not want to start off the season with just 1 100 Ah battery for the 'house' loads. When I get the replacement, I'll work it in as a third battery, so I'll have 300 Ah of capacity on the...

What kind of damage from an I/O in salt water for 2-3 years?

Well, we don't know how new the boat is, or the brand of the engine/outdrive. . . which may help. As for the outdrive . . . I get about 3-4 months out of a set of anodes, then they are ready for the scrap bucket. You mentioned that the boat has been in the water for several years...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Yes, the battery appears to be dead. (I've tried a bunch of things) I'm thinking that the BMS did not protect the battery (cells) to the extent that it should have. The other battery (it's twin hooked in parallel) came to life with just a quick touch of the trickle charger. and was sitting at...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

I've got the one sleeping battery sitting in the sun to see if a little more temperature will help wake it up. Otherwise, it my be going back to LiTime . . .

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Quick update . . . I had some trouble waking up the batteries . . . not sure if it is the charger or the battery. Anyway, I connected a trickle charger to the batteries . . . one woke right up and the other is still sleeping. Anyway . . . I got the Xantrex charging the good/awake battery...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

I received the LiFePO4 charger today. So, I put it to work bringing the batteries back to life. . It does a low current charging to wake up the battery, then it goes into the bulk and absorption stages, like other chargers. Not sure how long the wake-up will take. I'm thinking that over the...

Vinyl Plank Flooring Installation Decision ???

The flooring arrived today. It is a bit lighter than the room visualizer pictures, but it will be fine. I got to finish painting the walls and trim, then get the floor ready for planking. Probably will be working it this weekend.

    LiFePO Batteries ???

There are a couple of videos reviewing the Time USB batteries. I watched the more recent one (Jan 2025). Overall the reviewer thought it was a good battery and the testing met the spec's. It seems to me that many of the so-called economy battery brands have upped their game over the past...

Do i need to be concerned about these compression numbers yet

I usually look for numbers in the 5-10% range of deviation from the 'norm', which in this engine appears to be 175-180 psi. So, yes, #1 & #3, are a bit out of range. A cylinder leak test would be my next step. Most engines will idle and even rev-up just fine, despite any issues.

Vinyl Plank Flooring Installation Decision ???

After some YT video watching, it appears that the planks should run either the major length of the room, towards a significant source of light (window), or towards a major feature of the room (probably the largest window). So, it would be option #1. (I had a feeling)

Vinyl Plank Flooring Installation Decision ???

Greetings, I am doing a kitchen make-over and will be installing LVP (vinyl plank) flooring. I'm trying to decide the direction to run the flooring and am considering how it would/should look vs. the hardwood flooring in the adjoining room (foyer). Option # 1 Run it in the same direction . ...
