Starcraft 1971'? 16' to Duck Boat Rebuild

Sounds to me like you might have recoated too soon, especially if your temps were low. I used the US Composites 3:1 medium cure and it called for a recoat/set time of 3-4 hours at 80 degrees. "All working times(pot life) are based upon an optimum working temperature of about 80 degrees F...

    Starcraft Rub Rail

Yes, hot soapy water. I put mine in a big plastic tote filled with hot water and dawn dish soap. Get the channel as clean as you can and it should feed in rather easily. A needle nose vice grips on the end of the insert helps with the grip and a partner is always useful to have one on the end...

    Kicker setup on MR 180

Just been working on some littles as I await the extended delivery delay on my Gluvit. Had a few set backs with an unfortunate kidney stone, a family vacation, and now a few days of turkey hunting, but with the weather warming, hoping to make some more progress. Looking at freshening up my ID...

    SS16 Side Cushion Attachment Methods?

Of note, I was going to replace with new wood, but salvaged the originals as they were in good enough condition and already had the bend to them. You may need to soak them to get some curve to them, or you could also use something like pvc board as your backer that would bend around the curve.

    SS16 Side Cushion Attachment Methods?

Yes, 1/2 ACX plywood with a few coats of Spar Urethane and wrapped with Nautolex. I stripped down the original bow gunnel pads and salvaged the original wood (believe it was 1/4" ply), sealed them up with spar, added padding and wrapped with a marine vinyl. Don't recall the thickness of the...

    SS16 Side Cushion Attachment Methods?

I wrapped the console fronts with Nautolex and attached them and the bow/gunnel pads with large flange rivets.

Were Star Trek V's just not that popular

That console is in great shape and a unicorn I'm sure someone would love to get their hands on. I would hate to see it end up in the trash. We only do that with glassers around these parts :)

'74 Holiday 18 Restore Mod.... Convert to open bow.

Nice work! Looking forward to the finished bow with the reinforcements. I keep wondering if mine will be sufficient to support a trolling motor and ponder the idea of the full plywood underlay. The curve also adds another complexity as you have noted. I believe Watermann did something...

Yeah, was looking at that too as I don’t necessarily need a whole serving of Gluvit. Not sure which would be the better option.

    New Journey

My though was to apply the Gluvit on the inside, hoping it creeps into the seams more than the Coat-it did, then run a bead of 5200 along the bow seam on the outside of the hull. My hull is unpainted below the strakes and where the leak is occurring, so any Coat-it on the outside would be very...

    New Journey

With the warmer weather, I was able to get the hose back out and conduct a leak check. Only leak I have is a slow drip from the bow seam. Inside seam and rivets already have Coat-it applied. Not sure if I should just try to apply some Gluvit (seems to flow a bit better than the Coat-it) with...

    1966 Starcraft Holiday Interior Work

Here’s how I bridged the seams on my gunnel tops with the Nautolex. Nothing fancy, but keeps it hidden and secure.

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

I did all my MT skimming before I laid down the Coat-it. Just give the MT plenty of time to cure if your covering it at all.
