    Window frame lose

As old as it is, sadly I doubt it will come off without damage. On my 1990 boat it had lost all it's pliability, I used a little heat with a heat gun and it loosened it up and came out, but warped them. I have not tried to locate a replacement yet. I figured at the worst, I would fill the groove...

    Window frame lose

Yes, screw heads are under that weather stripping. If you can access the underside, remove the remaining wood screws and replace with SS machine screws and nuts/washers/

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Most likely my chain fall from the reinforced rafters of the garage. I have a cherry picker but doubt it will go high enough and still be able to drop down in. I beefed up the rafters of the garage many years ago when I was running big block Chevy's, so I'm sure it will handle this one fine.

    Window frame lose

Got a picture ? On my boat and many others I've seen there is a piece of plastic or rubber trim that comes out to reveal the screw heads. IF, yours is like that I would pull the screws and replace with small SS machine screws with nuts / lock washers.

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Ready to install the engine, hopefully after work today. I planned on doing it this weekend until I went to bolt up the coupler, whew, the splines are toast. Worn to a sharp point, don't know why I didn't notice them when I took it out. Anyway, ordered a new one and it came today. Assembled the...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Transom assembly installed. Feels really good to actually assemble and install mechanical bits on the boat. Although it's hard to see I also sanded and buffed the center part of the transom before installing the unit. I sanded with 800, 1000, 1200, and 2000 grit on a 5" orbital sander and then...

    Firestone 2hp 10A130 restoration project

Yep, different chemistry paints causing lifting. Usually, that has to do with a more aggressive solvent in the top coat (in this case your clear) than in the base coat causing it to break down the solids in the base layer. Try to use the same brand paint and clear. Also common when mixing...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Good news ! I was able to source a new locking ring locally and stopped home on my lunch hour, lubed it up with a little soapy water, started it by hand and a few good whacks and it seated perfectly. 5 minutes, after messing with it for 30 minutes last night, lol.

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

I hear ya. I'm currently redoing our kitchen, which involves moving an exterior door and siding. Installing new raised panel interior doors (7 of them), and installing new drop ceilings in the basement from an earlier renovation. Of course rebuilding the boat, and trying to keep up on all the...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

I got the gimbal housing and transom mount painted and started assembly. Although my "new to me" assembly is a gen II, it's an early model so it has all the bosses cast in place for the addition of the gear oil feed bottle, just that everything was plugged with pipe plugs. I was able to find a...

    A boat Called ANCAS???

I'm no help, just wanted to say that's a handsome boat. I'll bet it's going to be awesome once all that wood is restored.

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Busy weekend, a good portion was cleaning the garage and not getting productive work done on the boat, but I digress. I cut and laid out the carpet for the gunwales, adhered one side but didn't get a completed picture. I also disassembled the gimball housing. I had to build a quick tool to...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Yes. I laid a coat @ 1.5% MEKP the night before (60 degrees). The next day you can tape to it with painters tape using thick poly to stand on. I taped this section so I could reach over from outside the hull and pull the tape. I left the long ends of the tape curled up so I could grab them with...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Last night I laid out the textured area and put it down. 30 minutes later I peeled the tape and did the 3rd coat on the rest of the floor. Today I added wax and applied the 4th and final coat to both the floor and transom. I didn't add any shine additive so the wax has dulled the finish some...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Well, I have been on the edge about retreating and ordering carpet to install on the deck. Decided to start sanding and smoothing my many mistakes and giving it two more days before I bail and get the carpet. I am glad I did ! Got the deck where I was happy enough with it to start laying the...

Gel Coat Restoration, Still Scratches after 3000?

Just use swirl remover as the last step before polish. I like to use it by hand with a microfiber cloth on black or very dark colors. But, it can be used with a soft foam pad. Rub into a haze kinda like you would wax, then polish off with a very clean or new microfiber towel. All swirls gone. Of...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Got the layer of 6 oz down on the floor. I was able to get a couple coats of gel coat on the transom and bilge / engine mounts.
