    Restoring a 1990 Larson

I put a layer of csm and 1708 on the insulated foot wells ( I guess that's officially what I decided to call them). Then scuffed them with the DA and a 40 grit disc. Just have to do some smoothing here and there then lay the 6 oz. Hope to start the gel coat by Sunday.

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

I got both sides of the foot well / hull insulation adhered. I set them in full coverage of the low-rise foam. After curing I used PB to fill in the edges. The original insulation here was more "rounded" as these are angular and more defined, but I like them. These will get covered in a layer of...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Tonight I quick-sanded the deck and 1708 with a 60 grit disc, nothing serious just scuffed the knobs off and leveled the seams. Looks and feels pretty good, nowhere near where it needs to be for Gel. Once the 6 oz is put down I'll have to smooth several areas with fairing, but at least for now...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Thanks, went through your thread again earlier today. Once I do something I can more relate and pick up a few new things in every re-build thread. What issues / characteristics did you find laying the 6oz ?

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

I was able to get the fuel tank cover done, cleats installed, glued and screwed and PB'd in place. The whole floor tabbed to the hull with 2 layers of 1708. Then installed a layer of 1708 over the entire floor. Some of you guys in these rebuild threads make it look easy, lol. The center piece of...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Tonight, I cleaned up the floors and coated the edges with resin where the tabbing goes so it can soak in overnight. Also, coated the bottom of the fuel tank cover / floor and the last of the cleats. Tab the floors tomorrow, install the fuel tank cover and then soak the whole floor. Hoping to...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Cleaned and set the fuel tank. Cut the hole for the deck plate to access the fill / vent lines and sending unit in the future as I'm glassing the tank cover in. Some may have noticed in previous pictures, the half moon shaped cut-out I had placed on the upper half of the rear bulkhead. I did...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

A busy weekend, as in too busy to take in-progress pics. I was able to get all the floors in, except a small piece I left out at the bow so I could reach in to gel-coat the ski locker. I also have the center floor piece to put in after the fuel tank is installed. I got everything foamed. I was...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Added the 1708 to the new floor braces and on the support for the cut out of the ski locker hatch. I wasn't concerned at all with trying to get all the air bubbles out of these, they are just added reinforcement, but they came out better than I expected as I didn't use any fillets etc. Also got...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

I had to order more resin so I went ahead and ordered some 6 oz glass too. My new thought is tab the floors with 2 layers 1708, add one layer of 1708 for strength but cut it out so it butts to the tabbing to reduce the thickness at the laps and cover the whole deck with 6 oz / or maybe CSM then...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

I have not decided yet, my original plan was to do gel coat with non slip added in areas. But, I'll have to see how the finish comes out with the glass. I'm resisting fairing the whole deck as I want to get this part of the build complete and start on the mechanical and assembly. Yours looks...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Progress. Deciding to build the ski locker floor has slowed me down by a few days. Ski locker fully adhered, just need to tab it in tomorrow. Installed the rear floor pieces and Bam! the first permanent installed floors are in ! Also cut the holes for the foam and routed the edges preparing for...

Wow, I don't know if that's a better way to build a transom but I'm sure it's going to be as strong as an Ox. Nice work.

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Updates ! And a question for a confused member....;) I got a layer of CSM on a few of the floor pieces and the ski locker floor after soaking them in resin last night. My boat only had carpet glued directly to the hull for a ski locker floor, so I spent Sunday building a floor as a last minute...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Yeah, I've found many things that I question why. But, then I realize the way it was built lasted Even worse, my ski locker was carpet glued directly to the hull, no sub-floor. I'm currently building a ski locker floor, lol.
