Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

One more later if glass over the 2nd transom layer and I got the outer skin placed back on! Got some templates made for my new stringers.

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

So I don't have a heated garage. How do I handle my outboard? Souds like I can tilt it into a fully vertical position and all the water will drain out and not freeze....Therefore, leaving nothing else to do with it....but others recommend to winterize by draining the lower unit lube and adding...

You know... The more I hear about them....the more I feel like inboards are more of a pain in the ass that outboards! LOL

Yeah, I am slowly accepting this fact. It's kind of a downer that I most likely won't get it out this season.....But definitely in winter if the temps are as phenomenal as it was back in February here in Wisconsin!

LOL. Depends on if we have another mild winter this year or not. And what do you mean by "since it's an outboard"? Do outboard fare better in the cold than inboards?

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

You know.....with the nice weather out, it is getting more nd more difficult to find the time to work on this boat. 😂 I want to make sure it's all done correctly, so it is going really really slow right now. I am hoping that I can find enough time to make some decent progress this Wednesday and...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

Put on the 2nd transom layer today. Got my kids so could've be in the boat to much. I did work on the motor though. Got the new powerhead on and now I'm working on putting the wires all together. I did run into an issue I need help on.... the control box has a connector piece for the electrical...

Procrastinated today... but had good reason. My daughter had a band concert. I did manage to get the first transom layer cleaned up and placed into the boat.

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

I cut one piece of plywood today and laid down my first Layer of glass! Took 2 cups of resin. I put down a piece of csm on it..... but I do have a question now..... there's little csm fuzzies on the edges and resin for under and hardened on the other side and it's not nice and flush anymore...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

It was a recommendation on here a while back, and the way it was explained made sense, so I did it.....but for the life of me, I can't find the post.

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

It was a recommendation from someone here a while back. I also wanted to give it added protection. I know clean up wasn't necessary, but she's been treated horribly.....Just felt fitting to clean the tank up.

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

Cleaned up the gas tank today.... she looks brand new! Did a 3lb pressure test... all good there! I played with the resin catalyst and cabosil mix and slapped a layer of resin on half of the tank. Will get the other half later. Will check to see if the reason hardened when I get home. Attached...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

Found another fiberglass shop that carries the stuff here. I probably have him higher numbers than I need.... but I said I'd need 17 feet by 12 feet of 1708 biaxial....... the same in chopped stand mat... catalyst and a roller.... he said I would need over 50lbs of resin for all that and said...
