    Shift Interrupter Switch DIY Repair...

I've done that with starter relays. In fact if I remember correctly the relay on my trim pump has been disassembled, cleaned and reassembled. Thanks for sharing. Question for Scott: I've never found a micro switch with the right dimensions to replace it. Are you sure you can find one...

1975 351cu 233hp Mercruiser, riser block off plates or not?

Any more to report?? Hot spots, cold spots? My 233 manifolds run a consistent 140 -150 degrees. Manifolds and risers. JK

    7.4L Overheating

When you reinstalled the lower unit to the upper and misaligned the water tube, that would make everything overheat pretty quickly. Don't ask me how I know. JK

1975 351cu 233hp Mercruiser, riser block off plates or not?

I have the same engine in a 1978 Sea Ray SRV200. She's a tank of a boat but the engine is rock solid and handles it well. I love it. Like having an old heavy Cadillac for highway travel. I have a Marine Holley 4 barrel on mine. I recently replaced my manifolds and risers due to age. The...

96 Yamaha Wave Raider, Bad carb kit parts

Rebuilt all three carbs on my 1100. Could not get it to run right. Pulled carbs apart again and found all three check valves on the kidney shaped Valve Body assembly had softened. Anybody run into this? Just running regular gasoline. See picture.

    Mercrusier Steering "S" Turns

Do all mercruiser outdrives cause the boat to make S turns when at trolling (no wake) speeds? JK

    Outdrive Alignment

I've found that when the drive stops hard just two inches shy of home the splines are not engaging into the engine coupler. Just turn the prop slightly against the forward gear and it will slide right in. JK

Where to pick up power for electric choke?

I wired mine to a relay controlled by the oil pressure. Choke and hour meter work when there is oil pressure. JK

    what engine

"keep in mind, any fiberglass boat under $10k is a project." Hey! I'm offended. My '76 Sea Ray SRV200 is cherry. Rebuilt floor and stringers, new engine all less than three years ago. She is twice as solid as any newbie. I doubt if I could get $4,000 on the market--just too old. But I...

1996 Yamaha Waveraider Stumbles at 1/4 Throttle

Starts and runs great. But when you hammer it, it only goes 1/4 rpm or so and stumbles sometimes dies. If you crack the chock one third when it stumbles it accelerates to full throttle. Push the chock in and it continues to run fine at full throttle. It has been sitting for two seasons...

    Storage Question

Since one can start a PWC without water and no water stays in ski, why not start them every other week or so during the off (winter) season for 5-10 seconds? It would lubricate the cylinder walls and rest of the engine. Downside?? JK

Cooling hose goes from 5/8 to 1 and 1/4

On my 233 MC-1 the cooling tube through the stern is 5/8. The hose to the engine water pimp is 1-1/4. There is a "home made?" reducer on the 5/8 tube. See picture. No where on any parts diagram do I see how this miss match is supposed to be addressed. What was the original setup? Any...

    Outdrive Seal Keeps Tearing!!

I tear at lease two seals getting the outdrive back on. Almost every time. Heck I tore one just pulling it out of the package. What's the trick? Heavy, cumbersome outdrive against wimpy, thin seal. And that's the seal to keep water out of the u-joints!

    Mercruiser 233 Riser Replacement Question

Replacing the manifolds and risers on my Mercruiser 233 due to a cooling issue. The new risers are BARR and came without the sleeve in the discharge where the water goes into the rubber connector. Old ones had a sleeve in the last 2-3 inches before water entry into the rubber connector. Is that...

    MC-1 Reverse Lock Out Replacement

I've replaced the reverse lock valve O-rings and it still leaks. I'm thinking of using an automotive bake lock out electric valve and actuating it with the micro switch on the reverse lever cam. Has anyone done this? Thoughts? JK

    Manifold Temperatures

What should the manifold temperatures be under?? I can put my hand on them but can't leave it there. Is that cool enough? Is there an actual temperature value? I plan on taking my inferred temp gun with me next time and get an actual value. Engine is a 233 Mercruiser.

    How To LIFT Outdrive

I'm getting older and the old back is rebelling. Is there an easy way to lift the outdrive when removing it? Installing is especially difficult for me. An engine lift would help but where do you attach to the outdrive. Making things worse I'm doing this on a gravel driveway. Engine hoists...

    Control Cable Length Puzzle

Cable suppliers say to measure cable and round up to the next whole foot. OK. Original measured 14 feet, 4 inches. So I order a new 15 feet cable. It is actually 15 feet, 7 inches! 8 extra inches I could have handled but not 15! I tried it and it was jammed up into the corner of the stern...
