    1998 Bayliner Capri floor.

Personally, I'd do another layer... 2 might be fine, but you'll never have such easy access again... hopefully...

Yup.. splashed her last summer... was like August so not a real long boating season but we definitely had fun with it.

96 Bayliner 2050 - The Dirty Rotten Baystard

I'm starting to throw together a plan of what I want to do first, and while many things on my list are easier, I think the first thing I want to do is clean/paint the trailer... Its probably by far the most labor intensive thing I need to do, but everything else is more of a want than a need...

    FIBERGLASS CORNER REPAIR

Looks like its pretty close to the center of the radius... are you able to use the other side as plug for a mold? spray it with PVA and layup a couple layers of glass, pop it off, and stick it on this side? If not, your probably going to just have to use some tape as backing and layup lots of...

    88 Capri Restoration (Splashed 08/2022)

I don't think its the paints fault... Its mine for letting it sit with a hole in the cover all winter... Its a topside paint and isn't meant to be submerged, which it essentially was for several months (plus freeze/thaw cycles on top of it). I'd not hesitate to use a 1 part poly again, I just...

    88 Capri Restoration (Splashed 08/2022)

Sorry, I didn't get notified for this... I'm really happy with how the paint went... My only complaint at this point (which is my own fault), this winter my cover got a rip in it, so water sat in one of the corners of the deck for a long time... Eventually I think it soaked through the paint...

96 Bayliner 2050 - The Dirty Rotten Baystard

Howdy all! Been a long time... I'm itching to get back to boating this year and still have a pretty good size list of things I want/need to do. I've been pretty much entirely hands off with the boat since last fall minus winterizing...Not because I didn't feel like doing anything but I've been...

    1998 Bayliner Capri floor.

This is what I ended up doing to my floor in spots that seemed a little too flexible since I used 1/2" MDO for my floor.. This fixed it up and basically added no weight.. I used polyiso foam from the home centers as a "form" to glass over...

    Paint Recommendations please

You can't just "buff" old oxidized gel coat and expect it to really shine... The oxidation is basically a bunch of pits in the surface of the gelcoat. You need to physically remove the top layer of gelcoat with sanding... Again, start with like 400grit and work up to 1000 then compound, and...

    PVC stringers?

I've been down this road before... I was curious too and basically ended up going the safe route and using wood for my stringers... Most plastics are going to be a bad choice as a structural element as they have a tendency to stress relax or creep over time... So you're hull may end up taking...

    Glassing Stringers - First Time

He was saying to run 1708 up to the top of the stringer but not over... The 1708 only really needs to run up to the top of the stringer but not over because all of the strength of the glass is from the vertical component... The only reason to even run CSM over the top is to help with any...

    Hull liner

Start with acetone or googone, if they don't work, then use MEK... don't mess around with MEK though.. Suit up in all the required PPE.. That stuff is nasty.

    Non skid floor help

1708 will definitely show through the finished paint or gelcoat. Thats why most people will go over 1708 with CSM for a final layer to help hide the weave of the underneath layers... You may need to do a couple coats of paint and then sand down to try to "fill in" the valleys of the mat... Then...

    Paint Recommendations please

I've seen way worse/oxidized gel coat than that... Are you sure it won't clean up? You would probably need to wet sand the entire hull starting at 320 or 400 grit depending on how bad it actually is and work up to 1000 or so and then compound and buff... You'd be shocked how well it will...

    1998 Bayliner Capri floor.

Don't worry, you will only do it like 15 more times... Its okay though... the last thing you want to do is get stuck with resin/gelcoat/etc that has a shelf life, and something happens, and next thing you know, you have to throw away a bunch of stuff because life got in the way.

    Wood for bulkheads

just about any type of wood will work for this, including exterior rated plywood sheathing (BCX, ACX, CDX, etc)... The only thing you absolutely do not want to use is pressure treated wood... The chemicals used in pressure treating will eat thru the aluminum.

Hey everyone.. no, I'm not dead, lol... Just stopping in to say I hope everyone had a great turkey day! The boat hasn't been getting much attention since the end of the season... I still have a ton of things I want/need to do, so this definitely isn't the end of this thread... Hope everyone...

    Clicking noise-motor

Didn't say which drive you have... my initial instinct agrees with Scott... My guess would be either ujoints or gimbal bearing. If you are winterizing, you should be pulling you're drive anyways to inspect both those items, and grease everything, and replace your impellar if its not been done...

    Alpha one Gen 2 u-joints

The ujoints in my alpha 1 gen 2 were not the ones in the automotive cross-ref list as well... I did a lot of research, on spicer and moog websites... The specific ujoints used in the drive unfortunately does not exist in a (standard) automotive application... I found zero sources for cheaper...

No Power at Ignition or Instrument Panel

You need to start at one end and work towards the other and see where you find a change... Either start at the key switch or start at the main circuit breaker... I would start at the circuit breaker and measure the red/pur wire back to the battery negative and check for 12V... if yes, then...
