The satisfaction is undeniable and when I was out on the lake I had a smile ear to ear! I so can't wait till this summer!

    1990 Bayliner 2651 resto

I had the same problem but thinking about it I believe I made my mixture too dry also which compounded the problem. I was trying to conserve resin a bit I believe because it uses so much. Just one of many things I would do differently :)

Poly or epoxy, not sure what to go with?

Some of that isn't CSM, that is the actual sprayed layup fiberglass I believe. I think you may be pretty good in some areas. There may be areas that aren't going to be as pink as others like in the picture I shared, I just prepped with extra acetone and I didn't have an issue. All gelcoat must...

Anyone here ever used "Fiberglass Supply Depot" branded flotation foam

Like SD sad but this is used for safety and why potentially compromise to save a couple $$

Poly or epoxy, not sure what to go with?

I ran across this as a possibility, I remember years ago redoing my house that there was a wet dust collector I had with a 5 gallon bucket. The dust went into the bucket and not the vacuum albeit I burned up shop vacs because of how much I used it. I don't see it for sale but there are videos...

Poly or epoxy, not sure what to go with?

I don't normally either but 3 years ago when I first started my build I was asking the same questions you are and I was successful. The years of successful and broad ranging experience on this site from the good people that belong to it is second to none and I just wish I had a resource like...

Poly or epoxy, not sure what to go with?

I'm glad you won with your experience! Life is a learning experience and if I'm misreading your tone I apologize but people will do what they do and if there is no source of information then it's a total catastrophe. The individuals coming here asking for advice does not mean their not...

Thank you, it was definitely an experience I don't regret albeit I wish I knew then what I know now lol. I must admit that after seeing the boat @sphelps just bought it does make me think about doing another one someday just not fiberglass. Have to finish this first and go from there but...

Poly or epoxy, not sure what to go with?

On the subject of grinding, when you see the "pink" glass you know you're done in that spot anyway lol. You can see the examples in this picture. When using acetone to clean and prep for glass you can never use too much.

Poly or epoxy, not sure what to go with?

Someone gave me the same example to a similar question I asked but they also added that this time it will be done correctly, meaning it will last much longer than the initial build.

Poly or epoxy, not sure what to go with?

Jeffery, I used poly Ventilation it extremely important! The fumes from using poly are very nasty!

    88 Capri Restoration (Splashed 08/2022)

Thank you for the information Scott. I have contacted Holley (Mallory) in the past about parts for this but they had no information. I've done hours of searching for bushings, weights, springs with no luck. May be I'm not using the right search terms, I don't know. The new one seems to be in...

    88 Capri Restoration (Splashed 08/2022)

I have some great news! Upon further examination and comparison of the old and new distributor I believe that is my idle issue. The counterweights on the old distributor are just flopping around inside and the pivot holes are completely worn and rusty. I also noticed how crisp the new...
