    Stupid me, no oil

Getting close. Put the motor in without the spacer. The alignment is the same as it's always been (not perfect, but I think acceptable). Was able to fire it up on muffs. 1. That O2 spacer was toast. I'd love to have it in there, but that was leaking. Plugs had (I think) some salt deposits on...

93 mercruiser 4.3 alpha one gen 2 fuel problem (I think)

My Edelbrock doesn't have that. Is that used with the stove choke pre vortex?

N Y requires everyone to pass a powerboat operators license

Virginia has had one for quite a while. It's better than nothing. OFC, the cops here aren't allowed to pull someone over anymore for "suspicion" of anything, or for a safety check, so zero is enforced. Also, where I'm at on the Potomac we have this weird split between USCG and feds (up by...

    Not so welcome anymore....

Heh heh, though "friendly" might not be the word I'd use!

    Birds in the boat . . .

There's a great place right beneath my cover on the platform that chickadees love to nest in. This is the first year in a while that they haven't been in there. Also, underneath my gunnels are such a great place for wasp nests that I keep a mirror and a can of spray on board at all times.

Alpha One Gen 2 Drive Shaft

I was just thinking that either way this wouldn't be a straight swap--preload would have to be set up and re-shimmed. Only reason I can think of to just replace the shaft would be if there was a groove in it from the seal. But still easier to speedi-sleeve.

Alpha One Gen 2 Drive Shaft

The rolling torque change happened with the gen 1's, but the ujoints were the same for all of them. Pretty sure all the gen 2's used the rolling torque.

93 mercruiser 4.3 alpha one gen 2 fuel problem (I think)

Is that an auto carb? Not familiar with it but it looks like a vacuum line there?

Alpha One Gen 2 Drive Shaft

At some point I think they went to different u joint bearings using internal clips iirc. I thought it was earlier than that though. @Scott06 was the one that posted the moog cross reference?

    Lesson learned

Here ya go, this should be from your 1984 (also, 1983 is before 1984) Again, accusing everyone else of being wrong is my issue.

Nah, there was no recommendation for AF in 1984. They added it as optional later, then recommended. All for the same engines.

Are you getting spark to the plugs now? 4' won't matter.

    Mercruiser 4.3L - Stumbles at 3000RPM

The Carter OEM pumps can be had for like $70. But I went through 3 of them before getting one that put out the correct fuel pressure. Possible you'd be replacing a bad part with a bad part.

    Mercruiser 4.3L - Stumbles at 3000RPM

Did you check to see if you're getting a stream from the accelerator pump when you stab the throttle? And I'm confused about the symptoms. It now only hesitates on muffs? Last, did the symptoms get immediately worse after changing the plugs?

    Stupid me, no oil

That didn't work either. I pulled the flywheel housing back off; doesn't look like there was a spacer on the other side, but I took the new one out, put the spacer in, and now the bottom of the mount extends a good bit below the flywheel housing. Definitely doesn't seem right, and much more...

    Stupid me, no oil

Well, might have screwed up. When I pressed in the new mount, I'm not sure if I installed the spacer or not (pretty sure not). Can't tell now. Engine is in the boat, but not hooked up. Do I pull it again, order a new mount, and cost myself more time now, or finish up and see what happens?
