    New purchase SX-M

I made a drive cart using 2x6 and 2x4s mounted on this inexpensive Harbor Freight dolly. Get the height close and then raise/lower the bow on the trailer to dial in the exact height for drive removal/installation. Harbor Freight Dolly

    SX-M lower unit issues

If I were in your shoes, I would buy a used one for about half that price. I would replace the complete drive (sans transom mount), not just the lower, since the failed bearing material has flowed through the entire drive and likely damaging most of the gears and bearings. Have you been doing...

Knocking noise in gimbal when trimmed up

Bottom line, don't start or run your engine until the drive is down. You can trim up a bit while running within the operational range for raising and lowering the bow. If it's quite in that range, while turning, you're good to go with all the new parts you've installed.

    Broken Spark plug

Reduce the torque on the head bolts incrementally. Don't remove bolts completely with others at full torque. It makes the last few bolts very difficult to remove.

    Ignition/Fuel Fuse keeps popping up

No idea. Look for a mounting hole within reach of the wires.

VP SX tag missing- need help ID’ing gear ratio and model

My 200hp V8 has a 1.60 ratio. You'll need a protractor to differential between 1.88 and 1.79. Actually, if there's enough room, an iPhone app would work.

Bone headed move - put the plug in with 3M 4200

To freeze it free you can also use a can of gum remover. From my high school janitor days ski bumming you spray it on gum in carpet and it freezes hard so you can break it out of the carpet.

VP SX tag missing- need help ID’ing gear ratio and model

It's gonna depend on your horsepower. I would just count the revolutions when turning the engine. From Google... "Later model drives in the SX family will vary some: 4 cylinder = 2.18:1 maybe the 1.97:1 in a small boat. 6 cylinder = 1.97:1 and maybe the 1.88:1, 1.79:1 8 cylinder = 1.43:1...

    Ignition/Fuel Fuse keeps popping up

Just went through this. My issue was ignition wiring chafing on the block. If you find that with everything unplugged the fuse still blows, chase the wiring. In my case, it was the wiring to the alternator that was chafing the block.

Manifold & Risers no longer available

The Ford EFI risers are different to make room for the larger intake manifold system. The riser/elbows are canted outboard on each side.

    Boat trailer bunk bracket question

A metal fabrication place could easily make them for you if you had the dimensions.

Crank no fuel - oil pressure safety switch ?

Your connections don't look too bad, but I ran into a similar limp mode issue due to corrosion at the connection to the oil pressure switch. Maybe just remove and clean the connections as a first attempt.

    Trailer Bunk Bracket Mounting Questions

I would mount them so they are perpendicular to the bunks, but at 10 degrees, it really doesn't matter. Relatively low side loads at those small angles.

1999 Volvo Penta 4.3 - no reading on temperature gauge

I would find a wiring diagram for your engine to confirm the configuration. If you don't have access to one, post your engine model and maybe someone can share it, assuming they can get over the server photo linking issue.

1999 Volvo Penta 4.3 - no reading on temperature gauge

Realize there are two temp "senders". One is an alarm temp switch that completes a ground and triggers the high temp alarm, the other is a sensor that has variable resistance that is read by the gauge.

    Trim pump or rams issue?

Good point. The SX-M manual says the opposite, and I assumed it was the same on later drives/trim pumps. On the seal leakage, gravity puts a much lower load on the seals than drive thrust, so it still could be the seals.

    Trim pump or rams issue?

Even if the trim pump reservoir is full, you could still be leaking internally across the piston seals. Note that you need to trim the drive all the way up before you open the reservoir. At other positions the reservoir is pressurized.
