    Replacement raw water pump

Look on the pump to see if it has a gallons per hour (GPH) label on it. You can replace it with most any pump with the same spec. They're normally 500 GPH or something similar.

What are these pads made from?

Those are gobs of adhesive. Imagine gluing something to a floor using spots of glue. Boat manufacturers have equipment that pumps that stuff and some of them go wild with it. Your boat looks like it has an interior liner in it. It was molded much the same way the hull was then dropped in on top...

    1988 skeeter sd 80

You can glue it down with urethane based adhesive like Loctite PL. It's easy to work with and it holds good.

    Crestliner aluminum corrosion

You have what appears to be galvonic corrosion. You can see how it's worse around the outdrive and what seems to be a rivot in the hull. It's caused by electricity passing between the two metals. Metal tends to dissolve and flake off, traveling in the direction of current flow. It's the way...

    1990 225 sundowner

The best thing to do is, as you said, drill some more holes. Especially around the drain tube, lower engine bolt holes, and near any other thru hulls. If you're getting light colored damp wood it isn't critical right now to replace it. If you start finding dark, rotten wood it's a different...

    fiberglassing in new floor

If you're replacing the transom it isn't likely to be a problem. It could either be the gel coat cracking or the glass has cracked because of the rotting transom core. At worst, cracks in a transom can be a sign that the transom needs to be replaced so you have something of a self correcting...

    Metal transom protector

Your transom isn't going to fail unless something is really, really wrong. It is sometimes a little nerve wracking putting an engine on a transom you've just built. Sometimes you start second guessing every move you made. It's nothing to worry about. @dingbat posted a picture of one that acts as...

    1990 Alumacraft Trophy 170 transom/floor

You only need to remove as much as is needed to access what you plan to replace. As far as wood goes, most any plywood will do. Match the thickness of the original. Pressure treated is best but on an aluminum boat but it's a good idea to paint any aluminum surfaces that will contact the...

    Hull Damage Repair

As deep as it looks it's something you should take care of right away. That can be repaired in one day. Taking it out again is only going to get water in the cracks and you have to wait for it dry completely before you work on it.

    Floor and Transom Rebuild

Any wood you need for it can simply be bought at Home Depot. For a floor, you really don't need marine grade plywood. You can choose to use marine grade plywood if you want to but there's no real advantage to it. I can tell from your transom picture that it is definitely rotten based on the...

    Floor and Transom Rebuild

The "down and dirty" is to simply use polyester resin. It's inexpensive and will suit your purposes. You can if you want to use epoxy like West Systems. Epoxy takes longer to cure than polyester so you have to time it different. Epoxy takes a good 24 hours to cure so there's some downtime in...

Discouragement is starting to set in

It looks like you have sanded the entire surface of it so yes you'll be fine with that. Wipe it down with acetone before you lay the glass. If you want to add strength to it put a layer of chopped strand mat down first to smooth it out and then add a layer of woven roving on top of it.

Discouragement is starting to set in

Well, let's think about it. Every fiberglass boat begins its life as a lamination on top of gelcoat. A boat mold is first coated with gelcoat then cloth is laminated over the top of it. The problem people run into later is attempting to laminate on top of improperly prepared gelcoat. A boat...

Discouragement is starting to set in

Your boatbuilder friend is right. There is no sense in grinding through polyester just to get to polyester.

    Gelcoat question(s)

Your supplier is right but I wouldn't follow his advice. That makes sense, right? Wax does take some amount of time to form on the surface of the gelcoat but it's too difficult to guess at precisely how long it takes and far too easy to simply mix wax surfacing agent into the final coat without...
