Anyone enjoys looking at ruined engines being given a post mortem might find this channel interesting. For some reason I find it kind of addicting!

    . . . and I Thought Hi-tech Boat Engines Were Bad . . .

You could just put a bit of tape over the "check engine" light and forget about it.....

    Nobody fishing?

Took a ride on my ATV this afternoon and brought my fly rod along. Managed to get 8 brook trout and lost about 4 more. Not the biggest trout in the world by any means but guess what I’m having for breakfast tomorrow!

    yamaha 6y5t gauge hook up

Its raining here again today, but if my memory serves me, I had a short in the wire going to my bow light. I remember having to install a new wire there. Maybe your idea about a short in the fuel gauge wire is right.

Prop Locking Question (Reverse Locking Cam?)

Going back to your last 2 pic's, there looks to be a post sticking up with nothing on it and a linkage next to it with nothing in the hole on the end right next to it. Should these be attached?

    1979 Evinrude 70973R 70 hp Outboard

Looks like you are running that motor without water? You will need a new impellor, but thats the least of you problems right now! Did you try a big hammer and wood like suggested? That head is ruined now anyway.

Stiff throttle, and it's not the cables or shifter!

Do you have to throttle up now to shift gears? You shouldn't need to do that, I would think thats not good for your gears. Just unhook the cables and lubricate the mechanism and work it back and forth with engine off for a while and then try it with the engine in idle.

    Engine support while towing.

I noticed that the tilt lock is not recommended but I don't understand why? You would think that would be better then letting the trim hydrolics take the strain.

    Engine support while towing.

Just wondering how people support a heavy OB on the transom while towing. My tow to the water is only short, 5 min., but I still cringe when I go over bumps and think of the motor bouncing on the transom. I have an F90 Yamaha. I just keep it at full up with the small lever down to take the...

Outboard loses prime, unless I stand the tank on end

I agree with hole in pick up tube, tipping up the tank covers the hole with gas. Engine would probably also run if tank was full.
