2005 Yamaha F225 TXRD rubber grommet replacement

Do you have the new grommet yet? A lot of times such things already have a split in them in order to fit the wires in place. The split you can see in the old one may be factory made for that reason. You might be able to push the old one out of the cowling and put the new one on without...

    How Filters are Made

I'd loose a finger in that plant first day on the job!

    transom repair options

I think the white is still gelcoat, the dark is FG, That being said, don't grind too deep. You might not get all the gel coat, but get a little more. The new resin will probably still stick to the old exposed gelcoat just as well as the FG anyway. This is just my opinion, others who know better...

ok peeps. here is a question.

Anyway you can just apply 12 volts straight from the battery to the tilt motor, bypassing the solenoid altogether to see if the tilt motor does anything? Would this fry the wiring in the tilt motor?

Easier time putting on the trailer

Ok, I'm convinced! My boat is 20 ft FG with f90 outboard. I have no idea what it all weighs but my roller trailer is a breeze both on and off by myself. Obviously there are situations where either type is the best setup.....

    Low Compression, Low $ Advice

You seem to know more about engines then I do, but if its running fine now, would just using it as is be a bad thing until you can get it done properly?

    No power to F9.9 Yamaha

The ground wire from the battery to the kicker is likely corroded inside the insulation somewhere and only making intermittent contact. Your problem will likely recur unless you replace the wire or at least fix the bad spot.

    Problems with oversized boat motor

Nothing more indestructible then a 20yr old young fella (in their own minds anyway)!

Easier time putting on the trailer

Mine is always in salt water. It's a galvanized roller trailer. I've never even so much as washed it off and have had zero issues with it.

Easier time putting on the trailer

Is there any advantage to bunks over rollers? My trailer has rollers and loading is very simple. I don't see why anyone would choose bunks over rollers.

    No power to F9.9 Yamaha

Clean and tighten the neg (ground) wire on the battery first, wouldn't hurt to do pos wire too. Also make sure the wires themselves are in good condition. I had a problem a few years ago that turned out to be the ground wire at the battery. The terminal was clean and tight but when i removed the...

    Non conventional issues.

What are the symptoms you are experiencing with the motor? Will it run, does it keep cutting out, sputtering at high rpms? Just saying you have an issue doesn't tell anybody enough to hazard a guess as to the problem. Pictures of that crack you mention would also be very helpful.

    Randomly collapsing primer bulb?

I'd start with the fuel/water separator. I recently was stranded on the water because of a clogged filter. No water, just a clogged filter. Also, as suggested, the bulb could be on backwards.

Engine boggs down at 3000 rpm

Wouldn't be something simple like a blocked vent in the gas tank creating a vacuum? At one time I had a somewhat similar problem that just turned out to be a kinked flexible gas line! Hopefully you'll get lucky and it will be a similar fix.

    New to me Grew 155

Is it even necessary to register a boat in Canada? Mine is not and I don't know anybody around here in NL that does. Whats the purpose of it, besides paying a fee?

    New to me Grew 155

I redone a 1978 Grew 196 (I think) a number of years ago. It was actually a pretty well made boat. The floor and transom needed to be replaced as well as the foam. The two main stringers running down the length of the boat were soaked but surprisingly not rotten. Looked like they were mahogany...

What’s up with this fuel filter?

Oh, IDK, maybe its on other Yamaha motors too? Didn't think it was too far a stretch to wonder if it was on other HP's besides f115's!

What’s up with this fuel filter?

I didn't know there was such a filter. Is it a yearly maintenance item?
