    Heat

I'm sitting here in the afternoon on the couch because its too hot to go outside. For me thats 28C with 56% humidity. I don't know how you guys farther south survive those really hot days you get! Anything over 25C here and everyone is complaining about the heat!

Better be careful, don't stray into the forbidden political zone. You will be shut down....

I thought of that, thought it would look too cheap! Maybe I will.....

    Lower unit oil

I just changed the gear oil in the differential of my F150 and paid $33 a liter and I needed 3 liters! $100 bucks worth of oil. The worst part is I'm putting her in the shop tomorrow for a noise that I'm thinking is a pinion bearing. They will dump all that oil and charge me another $100 for new...

    Starting motor not charging

Also wouldn't hurt to clean all the battery connections. This should probably be the first thing to do.

    Starting motor not charging

With you nengine running check the voltage on the starting battery. It should read over 13 volts if the motor is charging it.

    Starting motor not charging

Turn the key to the on position and then see if the battery is getting voltage, that should tell you if the charger is routed thru the ignition. Can you jump start the engine from the trolling motor and then see if the engine is charging the starting battery? Also is there a battery switch...

Doesn't your outboard charge up the starting battery? Maybe the battery is bad?

Theft Prevention Tohatsu 15 hp Outboard Motor

how about a bright motion sensor light right over the boat, a board full of nails right under the motor and a big angry dog tied to the boat? Seriously the only sure way is take off the motor and bring inside or store in back of car.

    Bilge pump wiring

Ok, i misunderstood. When you said 3 way switch, I thought you meant a switch that had manual/ off/ auto. "off" meaning both float switch and manual are not working. And you are right, mine could be left running in manual when I leave the boat. Sorry for the misunderstanding!

    Bilge pump wiring

I'm sure your way works fine. But it can be done with a 2 way switch. I keep all wires, esp the splices out of the bilge to keep dry. I just like the idea of knowing my automatic bilge can't be screwed up by an incorrect switch setting if nobody is aboard. To each, their own!

    Bilge pump wiring

Not to argue, but you don't need a 3 way switch. Mine works fine with 2 way switch on one circuit and float switch on other circuit that is direct wired to battery and by passes the 2 way toggle switch, so that it is always able to turn on if water rises in boat. Alldodges diagram is like what I...

    I’m at a loss - Evinrude 40

Have you ever tried the motor out of the water on a hose? Does it still act the same?

    Bilge pump wiring

I have the same setup without the perko switch. My float switch is straight to the battery with an inline fuse, the neg is also straight to the battery. The rocker switch is from fuse panel up front and goes straight to bilge pump bypassing float switch. I spliced the wires from both separate...

Old Member returning - purchased a motor for my inflatable, a bit nervous...

Probably be a good idea to go out alone a few times to get a feel for the boat and motor before taking family. Make sure all have life jackets too.

    Nobody fishing?

Yeah, around here nearly every body of water is called a "pond", even big ones. There used to be a joke around here: A main lander said to a local "you guys sure have a lot of lakes around here!" The local laughed, "those are ponds, not lakes." Main lander replies "well what do you call...
