Non slip adhesive padding - removal and replacemet

I used this stuff on my trailer tongue, rails and a section on the stern of my boat. It's been 2 years but it has held and really helps when I have to walk on the tongue and rails for launch / recovery https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08F7DKTD4?th=1

Does the Lower engine mount wear out?

Does the Lower engine mount wear out?

No cracks, a dusting of rust from the bolts or metal center of the mount but very little.

Does the Lower engine mount wear out?

I can rotate the bolts in place without the mount moving, so they aren't frozen together. About 7-8 years ago I had to replace the ground wire on the port side and I don't recall it being difficult to get the nut off. I may have tightened up both nuts at that time, I don't recall. There's barely...

Does the Lower engine mount wear out?

I don't think it's moving so much that they need replacing right now. There is some movement but it's not that far from normal. I thought that it would not be too difficult to do but now that I take a closer look it seems like quite a bit of work and beyond my skillset. I do appreciate the...

Does the Lower engine mount wear out?

The hot rodder's way? Curious, what might that be? :-) My motor is no where near 300 hp but maybe you meant "up to" 300. I'm going to guess that you mean cut the bolt and install a new one backwards.

Does the Lower engine mount wear out?

Thanks for the replies. The black rubber is encircled by the metal band. I should have taken a pic of where the rubber fits inside the metal band, but it is all one piece and hasn't shrunk inside the band. I thought maybe the bolt tightening/compression on the ends may have weakened the mount's...

Does the Lower engine mount wear out?

That doesn't look like an easy replacement. I thought the bolts would come out forward but the bolt starts at the aft side of the mount and goes forward, through the mount, through the bottom yoke assembly of the swivel bracket and is capped by a 3/4" nut on the end. The shifting shaft comes...

Does the Lower engine mount wear out?

Just curious about the lower engine mounts. Does they wear out? My 1995 115 is going to be 29 this year and it's running fine but I notice some wobble when trailering and shaking when idling. The parts are readily available. Is it something I should be concerned with? I believe it's like an...

Does the switch box impact the rev limiter?

I put the OEM switch box back on the motor and it behaves like the new CDI box, which means it's the rev limiter that's maxing out at 5000, but I wouldn't it to fall on its face, just stop any further acceleration. The motor runs fine with the rev limiter black w/yellow stripe disconnected. I'm...

Mercury 1995 115 runs well until below 1000 RPM

I put the OEM switch box back on the motor and connected the rev limiter wire again. The motor behaved just like the new CDI switch box, so it must be the 3 year old Mercury limiter that's the problem. With the wire disconnected the motor runs normal, so I may just leave it off unless I can find...

Mercury 1995 115 runs well until below 1000 RPM

I have plenty of good but can't use spare parts laying around. I think of it as something I can plug in to find out if that's the problem on the next issue. If the voltage regulator is going bad you can possibly see the voltage on your fish finder. The last 2 I've had included an on-screen...

    1973 Mercury 115 2 stroke engine questions

Yes, I saw your post, fascinating. I wasn't aware of that. Apparently it's been in use for a long time.

Does the switch box impact the rev limiter?

The tach redlines at 6000, but it's just a tach. My motor has never been beyond 5400 and reached that only when it was cavitating. Normal max RPM is 5200-5300, which is the spec for the motor.

Does the switch box impact the rev limiter?

Agreed, if there's no other way. I was surprised when I was running down the lake and trimmed up a little bit to see if I could get more speed out of it. It started to cavitate and the RPMs jumped up to 5400 so I dropped it back down. There is a feature, and perhaps that's the rev limiter +...

Does the switch box impact the rev limiter?

I have a couple of threads in here and I didn't mean to cross post. The other one is in regards to the entire problem I have been having with the motor. This thread deals with any interaction between the switch box and the rev limiter. I went to the lake today and had success in running at WOT...

Mercury 1995 115 runs well until below 1000 RPM

Went to the lake today and had success in running at WOT with the rev limiter disconnected. The motor ran up to 5250 with no stalling or other problems. I ran about 2 miles down the lake at WOT, stopped, fished for several hours, then made the return run; no problems. So it's not a fuel problem...

    1973 Mercury 115 2 stroke engine questions

My 1995 115 Merc uses ATF in the trim-tilt, not motor oil. It's a hydraulic pump so it needs hydraulic fluid. You should see if you can't find an owner's manual for your motor. Your motor may be different, better check with a local shop. Post a picture of the pump If you put fluid in it and...

Mercury 1995 115 runs well until below 1000 RPM

Thanks, Jimmbo, I replaced my stator and switch box and the motor starts and runs normally now, up to 5000 RPM and then it shuts down until the RPMs drop and it suddenly starts up again to 5000 and drops, etc. It shold be able to reach 5250. But that's another post I opened...
