    Yup, but if his secondaries aren't closing completely then now you have extra air + extra fuel. Also, none of this has anything to do with the alternator. It's a 30 year old boat. My boat has been acting perfectly for exactly 10 minutes out of the last 5 years.

    No, that's the sensor. Module is NLA. A voltage spike wouldn't magically reprogram the module, it would fry it. And the idle isn't set by the module. Timing is, which affects idle.     I went through this a few years ago. Ended up just building one out of lumber. I figured I could reuse everything when I was done. That said, it's still standing in my driveway, because I know that as soon as I dismantle it my engine will explode.

    I meant that the water doesn't serve to cool the impeller, the lubrication it provides prevents friction with the housing, which is what causes damage. This would be the least of my concerns. That said, sounds like you're due for a change anyway
