    Normal rust on 2011 Mercruiser?

where do you live? Block cools at night, hot humid air condenses in the morning and engine sweats or get wet every day. That is a source of moisture. When I stored my boat outside in Houston one summer you would have thought someone squirted it with a garden hose every single day. Another...

    interrupt switch disconnected

My guess is your lower shift cable is binding. that is why its killing the engine when the shift interrupter switch is connected. The shift interrupter switch instantaneoulsy kills ignition when shifting from forward to neutral. If it is not connected then you pull so hard on the gear lever...

    Water in lower shift cable

I had the same thing occur on mine. My problem and I have no idea how it occurred but the sheathing on the cable had a very slight cut.

Rebuilt Mercruiser 140/3.0 doesn’t have enough power to plane

I chased a similar headache for months. Valves floated I replaced valve springs. Engine developed a miss/knock. So removed intake cleaned lifters assuming one was stuck. Put back together noise jumped to other side. Ordered new lifters, no difference. In end I had cracked a spark plug...

Oil Pressure Below Mercruiser Limits Per Manual

I had 5 psig oil pressure at idle in a 3.0 liter once. Changed the oil and had 20 pig at idle. Oh that right the oil was 6 years old. That was 25 years ago and engine still running strong. I like the 20W40 suggesting may get you comfortable with your oil pressure.

Oil Pressure Below Mercruiser Limits Per Manual

I chased a low oil pressure issue in a Roush 427R for months. Bearing clearances were good, before and after I replace them, lol, Super long story short the oil put relief valve spring was to short from factory. My symptoms were good oil pressure up to 4K rpm at 40 psi then it would drop off...

Mercury Fault Code 312 - Port side pre Cat oxygen sensor slow to respone

What is your exact code. I cannot find the code for post catalyst o2 sensor slow to respond. Makes sense as again the post o2 sensors do not have the ability to change the oxygen fuel mixture so how could they be slow to repspond....

    Help with water in oil

I think the key (what do i know) is to keep the block full of water or antifreeze at all times, winter included! Oxygen content in water is neglible compared to air (oxygen, water, cast iron are needed for corrosion we remove one and corrosion stops). When the block is drained it takes a year...

Mercury Fault Code 312 - Port side pre Cat oxygen sensor slow to respone

Ok your issue is different did you say "port side post cat O2" ??? the only purpose for the after catalyst O2 sensor (in manifold after cat) is to tell if you cats are working!!!! Nothing else, hope you don't have a bad Cat as they are $$$$$. I told you guys once loose the Cats, get the...

    Help with water in oil

Wow, I used a 3.0 liter in saltwater for 32 years!!!!! Only had manifolds rot through. I don't know if true but was told cylinder number one is thin to make room for impeller so if a 3.0 liter rust through that's where it occurs. Mine never did. Flushed every time. Shocked you are having...

    Engine replacement

You would a complete fool to install a "new" block without brand spanking new manifolds and risers unless you are 1000% sure how old they are and you bought and installed them
