Replacement Tires for dual axle trailer?

I bought Carlisle Radials. Key is I bought the highest load rating tire I could in my size which was "D" only needed "C" about $6 more per tire for "D". Pulled boat to FLA at 75 mph, when I checked tires they were cold. I have to believe if tires stay cold they aint going to pop, lol. Only...

    Ease of towing larger boat

Its gets old pretty quick. First a F250 will ride like a **** brick house vs your Navigator. Only use truck for pulling boat no problem, if you are switching out you may very well be miserable driving a HD truck every day with limited turning radius and ASS beating ride. Towing sucks, idiots...

Coil is getting hot 3.0 Mercruiser

Used points and condesor from 1998 to 2018 never had an issue. mercruiser 3.0 liter. thousands of hours, oh and original spark plug wires also except coil wire I had to replace it once....

    Outdrive gasket pushing out

Bondo is right. DO NOT USE STAINLESS STEEL. You will create a cluster fk headache when they gall. I had same problem used the gaskets with no sealer bead and problem went away. no that you can't buy those anymore I will probably just sand the rock hard ball bearing acting seal ring flat...

    Starter Shims?? - 1996 5.7L

I had a API starter. you can search my name for details. I took it off because every time the engine started it squealed. Long hot miserable story later the API POS mounting holes were closer to the engine than the factory. So it needed a shim. I also found previous installer ground off...

    Mercruiser 5.0

many times when a fuel pump fails (engine driven) like yours it will also leak fuel into the crankcase. remember the fuel pump is driven by a lever driven by the camshaft so if diaphragm fails gas goes everywhere. Change your oil. the vent should be tubed to carb so it floods carb out and...

Is it bad to run a pwc out of the water?

what they are trying to avoid is water in the exhaust passages getting back into the cylinders. Its important not to tow a broken down WAVERUNNER to fast or you can force water up into the exhaust passages and into the engine. again the jet pump when engine running forces water into engine...

    Low Engine Temp??

I had a 250 in-line six with a tick for about 80,000 miles so good luck outlasting it, lol. The tick was caused by a lifter, that being said don't try to change it out, you won't get it out, sure it will move up and down in the bore but the part of the lifter that never enters the bore is...

Another blown head gasket - Fuel Mixture?

I had a very similar boat. 47mph is impressive. Mine was 16' and 2100 lb bow rider. most I could get was 44 mph at 4600 rpm. 30 years on motor when I sold, ran perfect.

    3.0L hard starting when warm

Maybe vapor lock. Does your carburetor have a thick phenolic gasket under it to prevent the hot manifold from boiling the gas out after sitting for awhile with engine off? Mine had that issue, option 1 was just crank the crap out of it, option two was when anchoring for awhile push the...

    Wheel bearings full of water

from buddy bearing website: Grease can be added to the hub through an easily accessible grease fitting located in the center of the piston. Lubricant level (and pressure) can be checked quickly by pressing on the edge of the moveable piston. If you can rock or move the piston, the hub is...

    Wheel bearings full of water

Bearing buddies have a "relief valve". A hole drilled just before the spring is fully compressed in the hub. If to much grease or thermal expansion of grease it burps out the hole. Why would I check bearings that run at 100F when its 98F outside. I prefer predictive maintenance vs feel...

    Wheel bearings full of water

Air is compressible, grease is not. If you have have air in the hub, depending on amount, you are minimizing if not eliminating ithe bearing buddies ability to develop positive pressure. I towed boat twice to FLA from Texas over the last 10 years, just got back two weeks ago. When I pull off...

    Wheel bearings full of water

good point. I drill my zerks in the hub between rear seal and bearing race. You could remove zerk just before installing buddy bearing if on end of spindle. Truth be told I always thought bearing buddies were a farce. I then ensured hub was 100% packed and Buddy spring was always compressed...

    Wheel bearings full of water

The advantage of the EZ-Lube is when used in conjuciton with a buddy bearing. You get a 100% grease fill while buddy bearing maintains pressure. Its almost impossible to pack a hub 100%. Usually its 3-4 repps of the buddy bearing over a couple 100 miles before its full.

Mercury Fault Code 312 - Port side pre Cat oxygen sensor slow to respone

O2 sensor may have a bad heater. Surprised yours don't Rott out every other year like mine used to. You can check resistance across the O2 sensor terminals or pick up a new one. Again post o2 sensors are just an annoyance, no affect on how boat runs.

    New Flapper rattle at idle?

Sadly yes, they rattle and even the new ones will rattle after a short time. Exhaust gas is actually pulsation so the little flappers bounce up and down. Should turn into white noise for you after awhile where you don't even hear it or idle up.

2012 mercruiser 5.7 emission and fuel system codes and o2 sensor not working.

a bad post catalyst oxygen sensor will not limit performance or RPM. sounds like the 10 amp fuse may be O2 sensor related. The pre catalyst O2 sensors will cut power. make sure the O2 sensors before the cats are good. They don't fail often. Ck resistance etc.

    Normal rust on 2011 Mercruiser?

That is surface rust. I been boating in salt water for 35 years and seen more rust than that in 6 months.
