    Alignment help!

Sounds like the transom is rotten and letting the rear motor mounts droop down.

    4.3l electric fuel pump conversion

Note, I did the same kid of engine change as you, except I started with a 3.0L 4 banger and ended with a 4.3 V6 that didn't have a mechanical fuel pump capability. While I had the motor on the engine stand I made my wiring harness modifications. Super easy on the stand to see and access everything.

    4.3l electric fuel pump conversion

I used a relay. The pump is powered from battery to the relay, which is switched on by either the starter or the oil pressure switch. This takes the load off the oil pressure switch extending its lifespan.

Make sure you wire up a oil pressure switch and primer wire from starter.

    Time to reassemble

When they assemble the lower they have to set the shifter up properly. When I bought one, the intermediate shaft was cocked to the side a little instead of straight on. Would not slide into the shoe. The tech at SEI said it was their fault that the tension was set wrong on the shifter fork. I...

    Outdrive gasket pushing out

Stainless nuts on stainless bolts will gall and damage themselves.

    Alpha 1 Gen 2

And reasonably normal bad news. All of us, if we run a boat long enough, lose a seal that way and learn how to set the torque on the bearing pack. We do feel for you, but is just part of boats.

Pop the top cap and take a look. Easy to see. The top bearing and gears are what crap up first.

    U joint shaft

Yes, there is a passageway for pressure relief - about a 1/4 inch square or a little bigger that passes by the gimbal bearing from bellows to bilge.

    Outdrive gasket pushing out

Added note, just went to Tungsten Marine site and they appear to be dead ended. Sent an email as well, which bounced. Afraid that door is closed.

    Outdrive gasket pushing out

I bought a bunch of Tungsten Marine gaskets when I had the issue. Solved it for me. I no longer have the drive that had the issue, and the newer drive never has a problem. This leads me to think something changes on flatness and ability of the gasket to be gripped by the drive casting.

    U-Joints for 2003 Alpha One Gen 2

I thought they were 315s, but that is from memory. I always get grease-able. I pull my drive every winter and leave on a stand and grease before reinstalling.

88 sea ray with 3.0 mercruiser.

Your compression is fine. Agree with Kenny on choke settings. Adjust cold where the butterfly is almost closed - I am at altitude and don't need full choke. So I leave it open 3/16" or so when fully activated. The 12V to the choke is the same source 12V as the coil gets. Purple wire.

    U-Joints for 2003 Alpha One Gen 2

I used the Moog joints from local NAPA. No way I am paying ripoff penalties for 'marine' sold items made in the same factories as automotive.

    U joint shaft

I had to grind a corner to clear the bearing cap on one. Get an inexpensive ball joint press and go to it.

    7.4 Mercruiser Engine Life Expectancy

If you take a pickup like mine, which is a 2000 with 7.4L, it has 140,000 miles on it and I am thinking about doing its first plug change. 140,000 miles is usually around 25 MPH average - which is 5600 hours. Engine still has no leaks and runs same as it did when new. It got parked most winters...

That seal doesn't really accomplish anything if there is too much grease or the bellows fills with water as there is a bypass port that lets massive amounts go right by it. If you wipe a finger through that mess and smell it, does it smell like gear lube or not smell much at all?

    Engine bogs down

Think fuel: dirty filters, clogged up ports in the carburetor, nasty old fuel in tank, water in tank.
