    Windlass wont release

I’m not so sure froggy. My old boat had a windlass (powerwinch?) that powered in/ out only, no way to thread the rode without power. I gave it the heave ho and installed a proper windlass with free drop.

    VHF on All the Time?

My AO is a very busy waterway and I keep the VHF on, even when overnighting. But, then again, my rig has 4- group 31 batteries…..

    chesapeake blue angels

Mariner Point has a nice ramp and is fine for you. Lock up your rig. With the nice weather predicted you should be OK. Remember though, there will be a LOT of boat traffic which could create rough conditions. Your pontoon should be alright but keep everyone seated until you are off plane. Try to...

Possibly getting a slip - what to know before saying yes

I’ve had a slip for 20+ years. The first few months you will worry about every storm, high tide, etc. After you discover nothing bad happens it’ll be easier for you and you’ll love the convenience of jumping in and going! Since you will be on a bulkhead and only tied on one side, you might want...

    vista 268 Kohler 5e Generator

Yes. As far as the electronics go, consider hiring an authorized Kohler service center to give a proper diagnosis. They will come directly to the boat.

    vista 268 Kohler 5e Generator

I’d check for voltage to the pump first. If you want to see if the motor runs but have no voltage to the fuel pump, you could setup a temporary tank and gravity feed into the gas line- FOR TESTING ONLY. This can also confirm your generator is making power into the boat (the white breaker).

    vista 268 Kohler 5e Generator

Not necessarily. Look at the generators display screen and see if any codes are coming up. This model has a lot of sensors that could throw a fault.

    vista 268 Kohler 5e Generator

The white double pole breaker controls only the electric distribution. I always left it off until the genny was started and running so as to minimize load until warmed up. If you’re using shore power the genny breaker should be off. As far as the clicking sound, have you confirmed the battery is...

    Boat with Engine $500 Hmm..

If the engine is actually compatible with yours, then it might make sense. Heck, it even has a prop on it, so even without the engine possibilities, you could sell parts off the hull (chrome, windshield, and shifter) and the trailer- maybe even sell the trailer outright or convert it into a...

    Explosion and Fire Danger

I have a cruiser with two gas engines and twin gas tanks. Even with a working fume detector, after fueling I ALWAYS open the engine hatches, cabin windows, wait 5 minutes, then go down into the bilge and perform a smell test before starting- just to be absolutely sure!! No short cuts are allowed!

    Head holding tank pump out

Sure, as long as it’s not full. In the past, I’ve gone the whole season without pumping out. My boat has a black water tank gauge; I’m guessing yours dees not?

    pontoon contamination

I wouldn‘t do toilet bowl cleaner with aluminum- but it works great for cleaning fiberglass. Looks to me like a high pressure power washer with a cleaning solution should do the trick.

    Is AARP worth it???

No. AMAC is better IMO. Do your research on each and see why.

What percentage of value of motor do you replace? How much to spend on parts motor?

I use a 45 year old Evinrude 25 and I intend to keep it. Parts and service are necessary to keep any motor functional- old or new! I think Scott said it best: Third, your 55 year old motor will out live many 5 year old 4-strokes that cost 15 times as much as you have in the motor.

    Jon boat fuel line route

A 6 gallon tank won’t fit?? I find that hard to believe. Wish I could help you. My 1442 fits a steel or plastic one with room to spare, and it also has bracing. I keep an extra tank just forward of the middle bench but don’t feed gas from there.
