Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Struggling to get this project moving again after a long hiatus and some major life hurdles that have recently kicked me in the face and unfortunately hit me with really hard setbacks. I’d like to start building my dash and and electrical panels as I’m physically able. One panel for the fuses...

    1975 SS160 weight?

Thank you. Decided to buy something that will not tow And for now we will use our old V6 Toyota Venza, then eventually a small used pick up truck or SUV. Venza is rated at 3500 And has towed our tent trailer around for a bit In the early years. Not so thrilled about using front wheel drive at...

    1975 SS160 weight?

Hey guys, anyone know what one of these SS160’s weigh as equipped? Ie; with a max rated outboard and house battery? I’m seeing figures of 675-725 and assume this is bare hull only? We have to replace our car and I’m wondering if I’m under 1500lbs complete with a 70hp Johnson, a house battery...

Thinking of switching controls for an outboard

Thanks guys. Honestly, I have maybe 20 years of boating left until I can only dream about it. I might just keep running 90’s-2000’s motors until I’m done. I don’t really want to drop 15k on a setup I will never wear out.

Thinking of switching controls for an outboard

I’d like to change my controls from the Johnson/Evinrude OMC control box that mounts on the surface of the interior panel for something nicer looking. I would like a cleaner looking style where the throttle box is inside the panel and all you see is the gear selector / throttle, OR If that...

1990-1995 era 3 cylinder charging capability?

If I was running one of my 50/60/70 hp triples for any lengths of time, could any of the surplus charging circuit be utilized if my house or starting battery was fully replenished? Wondering if I could divert the charging to my trolling batteries with this...

    New-To- Me 1972 Starcraft 18' Mariner-V... Thoughts?

Wow, I’m surprised at such a low rating for an 18’ boat. Perhaps because the helm is further to the rear. I believe the more forward the helm is, the larger you can go with a motor(?) perhaps a pro will weigh in. And maybe an earlier poster figured 35hp is plenty (?)

    New-To- Me 1972 Starcraft 18' Mariner-V... Thoughts?

I put 1/8 or 1/4 aluminum instead of plywood pad. 35hp will be fine and should plane you out, however if you plan on having more than light gear and 2 people onboard, I’d go 50hp minimum. My brother moved from a 35hp on his 16 foot to a 60hp. He couldn’t believe the fuel economy difference...

Can anyone identifythe Model of this 1960's 16' Starcraft by pictures ?

I think it’s just an open 16’ tinny/utility that someone installed a windshield and steering on. Id be surprised if Starcraft built that the way it is but I’ll let the pros weigh in
