    ANOTHER WATER IN OIL QUESTION

The valve by itself is not likely to get water into the oil quickly. Most likely a crack in the block or head.

    1992 3.0L I hear air leak in #4 cylinder

Need to cap off the water line going into the manifold. Then you are just pressure testing the block. You cannot pressure test the manifold as the water jacket is open to the exhaust. Valves aren't the problem. Water jacket in the motor is the problem. Could be cracked block, could be cracked...

    5.7 Mercuriser Cracked Block

Not that your thoughts are wrong, but a coupler with a properly aligned motor will last the life of the boat. I'd find it hard to put $300 in a part I can swap out in an afternoon. I completely agree with the crate engine path unless you are doing most of the work yourself. Stick it in and go...

    Mercruiser shift interrupter

Hmm, it's an on off switch. Would not have occurred to me to check resistance, only continuity.

Boat stalled, later found oil in Bilge... help!

I would take it as separate investigations. First, where's the leak? Get down and look closely. Use your camera on your phone to look at places you can't see. Next, why no fire? Need two things, fuel and spark. Check both.

Me either. Would love to see pics of this fabulous carb that adjustment of made all better.

    4.3l engine questions

I'm not sure horsepower is a good standard to aim for on performance. Boats really depend more on how much torque, and that does change upward with more breathing. How much theoretical horsepower we are getting is less apparent in performance. You may be able to sell off enough of the 3.0L...

    Fuel pump issues

Most typical installation put the oil pressure switch for the pump at the port side of the distributor just behind the intake mani.

    4.3l engine questions

Turning the balance shaft takes 15 horsepower right off the top. Having pre-balance shaft is a boost right there. Best part of a V6 compared to the 3 liter is how quiet it is in comparison.

    2 Black sparkplugs

I've seen cheap valve seals ride up after 2 minutes.

    2 Black sparkplugs

Might just be bad valve seals if the compression is good.

High oil pressure smell of gas in oil

Electric fuel pumps with carbureted motors in boats do not run when the key is turned on. They get power from 2 sources: 1) When the starter is cranking, there is a wire coming off the starter that power the pump. This is the primer circuit. 2) Once you have oil pressure the oil pressure...

High oil pressure smell of gas in oil

Fuel pump is tested with a pressure/vacuum gauge placed inline. There are fittings made to tee solid fuel lines. Carbs need 4-7 PSI. Set your timing correctly. Use proper procedure and a timing light. Don't ever just wriggle it around looking for a sweet spot. That's a great way to burn holes...

    ANOTHER WATER IN OIL QUESTION

Running lean and probably too much timing advance. Don't run it until you fix that issue.

    Upper Housing Cap Paint Question

I'd paint it. There is no gasket, just an o-ring up there.

Mercruiser 3.0: Dead cylinder? very sluggish!

I'd consider pulling the valve cover off and making sure rockers are moving same on #1 as others.
