Sounds like you need warranty from Turning Point.

Oil leak near starter? What's behind starter?

I'm gonna be on the same page: rear main, flung by the flywheel, or valve cover gasket. Yeah, there's a plug for the oil gallery and for the camshaft on the back end of the block, but that would be rare. More likely valve cover leaking down onto flywheel cover, following it down to starter.

    Tracker Tahoe 202

If you have a method to lift the engine, the job is very easy compared to a car or truck. A few hours.

Impeller housing and oil leak questions

I didn't scream.... but, jamming something in those seals doesn't say a damn thing about whether it leaks there with the output shaft in there instead.

    Engine failure?

Mot common place for the 4.3 to crack is in the lifter galley right above the lifters. That kind of failure puts water in the oil but not in the cylinders.

Impeller housing and oil leak questions

No way to test the upper gear case output shaft seals with the halves separated.

    87’ invader mercruiser help me ! 👸

I did a similar swap.... and enjoyed it. It required fabricating new engine mounts, and disassembly of almost everything, and learning how every last piece works together. Both me and the boat are better for it. Was it financially reasonable, probably not. But for me, it was fun and the V6 is so...

    Engine Bogs Down Under Load

I'd have skipped the fuel pump and gone right to cleaning the carb. Get a kit. Can use Weber or Edelbrock 1409 kit in it. It takes apart so easily kind of hard to make a mistake that way. Don't switch up the jets. Not sure on the Weber, but not supposed to use carb cleaner on the Edelbrock...

    Mercruiser 4.3 Steering

The power steering actuator should resist against the drive moving. That's why it doesn't turn the boat from torque like the manual steer models do.

    Engine Bogs Down Under Load

All it takes is a little crud in the jets and a Weber stops running. Easiest carburetor to clean ever made.

Carbed Mercruiser 260 5.7L Missing Above 4000 RPMs

Running slow at a given RPM has nothing to do with your motor. Bent prop, nasty hull, or water logged, but not motor.

    1st time out, boggy?

Iridium plugs are easily good for over 2000 hours.

Carbed Mercruiser 260 5.7L Missing Above 4000 RPMs

Mixture screws are only for idle. Certainly could be an ignition issue. Cross that bridge after figuring out whether it is fuel. Probably not wires plugs or cap. Doesn't hurt to swap em out. But my bet is something fuel related. Might be worthwhile to put a 'T' in your fuel line and hook up...

1986 Alpha One has leaked oil since service....

Those little hand pumps that sell for ~$40 on fleabay will both pull vacuum or build pressure. They work great for this. Oil seals work both ways - the most important function is to keep water out, so many mechanics use a bit of vacuum to test that ability. An oil seal with the lips facing the...

1986 Alpha One has leaked oil since service....

I'm no longer a silicon person. The stuff is garbage for most things. 3M 4200 is much tougher, easier to get off and paints better. That's for anything that might need to be removed later. For anything permanent, 5200. Even Marine Goop is much better than silicon.

    Engine failure?

Issue with GLM has been casting quality and surface flatness. The good ones from GLM are good, doesn't matter that they have GLM cast into the sides. Inspection is everything in this case.

    Engine failure?

Seeing as how pulling the plugs freed up the motor to turn - if there was water hydrolocking the motor, that water passed by the rings and is in the pan. It wil not have mixed, so you won't see it on the dipstick. Time to change the oil and count your blessings.
