    Are you using the original bolts. Are they metric or fractional. I am just curious as these engines could have either one. Which ever way you go you need about 3/4” of thread showing from the mounting surface on the starter.

    Be sure to connect the shift interrupt wires used on the original engine. The brown wire goes to the negative side of the coil and the black to ground.
