    Questions about Yamaha

Hey guys, looking at a couple of boats both with late 80’s early 90’s Yamaha outboards. One is a 90 and the other a 115. Do I need to ground the spark plug wires to do a compression test on these motors? I don’t know Yamaha at all except reputation is supposed to be solid. Anything to be...

Where do I belong? Alum Goods 1687, SS16 Clone?

Pay attention to temps in those dry times. Some paints and epoxies are temp fussy. Tremclad is likely one of the least fussy but dry times are slow. And Tremclad is funny stuff. It can stay tacky all day. You can check it at 15 minute intervals like 8-10 hours later and it’s tacky, tacky, tacky...

    1993 115hp OMC Quiet Rider??

I thought the boat looked pretty cool and still do, but now I feel it’s akin to an old Volkswagen Beetle with one of those Rolls Royce grill kits that were popular (or not popular) in the late 70’s or early 80’s. I’m still going to look at it. I like the low maintenance aspect of it. I’m...

    1993 115hp OMC Quiet Rider??

Awesome. Seller claims the trim motor was replaced 2 years ago. I’ll ask if he has bills to show. Thanks for the help

    1993 115hp OMC Quiet Rider??

I’m looking for a new-to-me family boat and I discovered a crazy “Faux inboard” type boat with a big fiberglass cowl/swim platform thing hiding the motor. So before I look hard at this, is there anything really different about or problematic about these motors? Are the powerheads, lower units...

    1966 Starcraft Holiday Interior Work

I thought yours folded down. Hence the sleeper seat term. I didn’t know that they made them as only back to back only option. They’re probably more sturdy that way though. They do look like really good quality. Looks like the vinyl is soft and supple. The Wyse seats are hard like sitting in a...

    1966 Starcraft Holiday Interior Work

I keep looking at this. Really, really sharp build. Are the sleeper seats custom or reupholstered the originals ? I really do not like the Wyse sleeper seats I bought. They are narrower and less contoured than the original StarCraft seats. I would like to learn how to do marine upholstery and...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

My battery hold down kits have come in. Concerned that they might not be heavy duty enough for the front of the boat. Remember these are going to be underneath the bow seats/platform. The threaded tiedown roads seem to be beefy but they’re plastic. Wondering if I should go with something like...

    Starcraft console to Gunnel joint?

Excellent point. The cover was tight already. Not sure if there’s enough give left in the fabric for it to work. The only other option that I can think of is a small hole at the low point with a tube draining to below. Not sure how to do that one so it looks nice.

    Starcraft console to Gunnel joint?

Have any of you Starcraft rebuilders addressed any of these joint issues? The consoles on my Super are set lower than the gunnel. This channels water from the windshield and bow cover down into the boat on a rainy day, even with my mooring covers on. Caulking the same may help a little bit...

Nautolex flooring adhesive and spar varnish?

So nobody carry’s indoor/outdoor waterproof vinyl flooring adhesive around here any more. Part because of lack of sales as vinyl flooring in homes is rare nowadays and part because of environmentals. I ordered 390 Premium marine adhesive and I’m going to apply it to bare wood on the top and...

'74 Holiday 18 Restore Mod.... Convert to open bow.

Someone’s been busy! Nice find on your consoles. Definitely mock up the windshield. You might need to pull them back some though. The vertical legs should be near inline with the stringers more. Unless you are using your original glass (narrower pass thru?) Looking great though

    New Journey

The g flex will run, especially when warmed so it needs a crevice or ledge to cling to

    New Journey

Can you invert the boat or roll it up to one side? G-Flex flows on to and floods seams beautifully with a syringe and heat gun.
