Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Thanks, I did decide to put one in the floor but only ski locker size so to speak, not a custom rod locker. I like the design you showed and if I was doing a full raised deck up front it would have likely been the design of choice. Not sure it would be deep enough however in a 16’ boat though...

Yes, I marked the line using a level across the stringers

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Slow progress again this weekend, but we’re getting there! Not much to look at but I feel that I’ve hit another milestone. I decided to use the rough-in pvc line for the future (and likely never to to happen livewell) to evacuate the front bilge. I’ll bet the front bilge will never cycle but...

Nautolex flooring adhesive and spar varnish?

I’ve since realized that you thought I meant the actual nautolex brand adhesive. I can’t get it so I’m looking for an alternative. My subject heading was a little vague.

Nautolex flooring adhesive and spar varnish?

@moderator I just realized that the title of this thread is a little misleading. Could somebody please change it to “compatible adhesive for nautolex flooring on spar varnish surface”? Thank you

Nautolex flooring adhesive and spar varnish?

Nautolex recommends their Nautolex 88 adhesive, which does not appear to be available here, so searching for an alternative. I want to use OTF and spar as I have it on hand and in theory, the boat won’t see a ton of rain and hopefully won’t be seeing swamped or submerged conditions. So looking...

Nautolex flooring adhesive and spar varnish?

That’s great! Not the sinking part but the toughness of your application. Do you happen to remember the brand, or if it was latex based or a more aggressive compound?

Anyone use 3M ScotchWeld or 3M Fastbond?

Nautolex flooring adhesive and spar varnish?

I’m reading a lot of negatives regarding contact cements not working will with spar varnish. Any suggestion on glues that work well with spar? I want to do the OTF preservative treatment and varnish to seal the new ACX ply, then clad with nautolex. I’m not keen on leaving it bare in order for...

    1966 Starcraft Holiday Interior Work

Excellent. Thank you very much 66. Looks like they butt the seams together. I bought the nautolex brand, there was a significant price difference. And it may appear that the Marideck is thicker. They’ve done quite a nice job with it. I wasn’t aware it was available in white, but it certainly...

    1966 Starcraft Holiday Interior Work

I’m thinking of doing the tops of my gunnels with nautolex also. What you’ve done looks amazing. Any chance you can show a photo of how you tackled the seams? Did you put a piece of trim over them etc?

Starcraft 1971'? 16' to Duck Boat Rebuild

I’d like to hear the pros chip in but I think that looks like a decent product. Polyurethane-based, exterior use. More than likely intended to see damp/humid conditions, temperature fluctuations etc.

Sacrificial anodes on an aluminum hull - Advice needed

Thinking about it now, I wonder if mine would’ve benefitted from having one. I believe it was originally outfitted with a 1975 mercury 650 that I got it with. I’ve since sold the motor but I don’t recall it having an anode on it. My boat had quite a few rivets that had corroded and pitted...

Were Star Trek V's just not that popular

I thought this thread was a typo when I looked it up but I see it was an actual model. It appears to be like the Mariners little sibling. Same concept but for smaller waters perhaps. What colour is it? Would like to see some pics.

    Suzuki 75hp

Aside from the usual suspects, I’d check into parts availability. I’ve heard Suzuki was sold in recent years and there was some sort of issues with parts/support. Not sure if true but worth checking. Suzuki is my second choice after Yammy
