    Stringer contour question

Well I would assume you will be placing them into thickened resin to stick them in place and that will take whatever shape the bottom of your stringers are so its no problem.

    Getting 1st Covid/Pfizer shot romorrow

I doubt that the CDC confirms "the vaccine doesn't protect you from Covid"! I agree with Alldodge, FOX does a real disservice to you guys spreading all the missinformation without any regard to peoples lives, shouldn't be legal. I expect the Mods will end this conversation pretty soon!

    Getting 1st Covid/Pfizer shot romorrow

Its like any vaccine, not 100% effective, but high 90's are pretty good odds. There have only been a very low number of serious effects from the vaccine. There have been over 1/2 a million deaths in the US alone from Covid, so I'd take my chances with the vaccine every time.......

    Getting 1st Covid/Pfizer shot romorrow

I wouldn't hesitate to get vaccinated. My concern is that eventually one of these variants will evolve to beat the vaccine then we have to start all over again! I suspect we may be getting new vaccines for covid every year or two same as flu shots....

    Getting 1st Covid/Pfizer shot romorrow

Around here we can get a haircut but you have to take a number and sit in your vehicle until the number is displayed in the window. One at a time but better then letting my wife at it! I got my first shot 1 1/2 wks ago, no side affects at all except a good sense of relief!

    Floor and Transom Rebuild

I got most of my foam out with an ice chopper. As for the transom, I personally would sand that old thickened resin just enough to get any lingering wood off and rough up the surface , fill those couple of places where the old stuff chipped off with new thickened resin and then stick the new...

Advice on transom , stringers and floor rebuild

I saw that you were grinding down the old tabbing for the stringers. If you have the old bad wood completely out, i left the channels as guides and supports to keep the new stringers in place. Just filled the channel bottom with thickened resin and dropped the new ones in. The channels were only...

    Hello

Why do you want to know the model? Seems like if you try to go thru gov registration and such it could cost a lot of extra money. I'd just fix what I can and enjoy the boat, whatever model it is!

    1990 18' Bayliner

I'm no expert, but I think you may be dreaming. I'd start by taking up the soft spot and checking underneath, but most likely you have wet foam and quite possibly rotten stringers and transom. Drill a few test holes on the inside of the transom and look for wet shavings, same with stringers...

    Gelcoat question(s)

Yeah, I was planning on rolling it on and figured I would need 2 coats as I'm changing the color and will need to sand out the orange peel effect. I'm also still considering using paint, but gelcoat seems more durable.

    Gelcoat question(s)

Thanks, that actually makes sense! I guess as the deeper resin cures it pushes the wax towards less cured resin which will be the surface, whatever the direction it is, because of contact with oxygen?

    Gelcoat question(s)

I was talking to my fiberglass suppler today about gelcoat and mentioned getting unwaxed gelcoat because i'll probably need a second coat. He said if you apply the second coat within 48 hours of the first coat it doesn't matter about the wax because it won't have come to the surface yet and will...

    Filler Size Applications?

Up here I paid almost 40 (38) for a one gallon paint can full and that was loosely packed! If I could get it at your price there would be no contest!

    Filler Size Applications?

Fumed silica is great stuff and does work but I too found it a bit expensive. As for the glass fibers, you can't buy it loose here so I just cut CSM into narrow strips and mix it into the resin and it all breaks apart into fibers when you stir it in. I watched Frisco too and he did say the resin...

    Replacing stringers

I just done mine, the whole boats not finished yet but the stringers and deck are. I never did it before either, but there is lots of info here and people willing to offer good advice. It can be done but it is a bit of work and time consuming.

    1975 Sears Game fisher repair?

I'm not really familiar with that make of boat, so i'd rather not give advice and tell you something wrong. I'm sure there are people here that will know if you can get them to respond. Good luck!

    1975 Sears Game fisher repair?

Whatever is under all that fiberglass is rotten, sorry to say. Drill a few test holes, but expect the worst. Is the outside hull cracked? The whole boat looks kind of twisted to my eyes....

    Struggling

Wow, from the mess you started with, you already got a lot of work put into this! I don't know anything about aluminum boats, but a lot of people hear will and have good advice. Don't give up!

First deck replacement, I have questions

As already stated, be sure to test the transom as well. A soft floor is annoying, a soft transom is dangerous. As for the foam, if the wood above it was rotten, then its likely wet at least on the bottom. The choice is to do a easy and quick cover up job that you will be doing again in a few...

    Putting in a floor hatch.

I just looked at your thread, that's very impressive work! My 2 main stringers under the floor were ,mahogany, they were wet but no rot in a 42 yr old boat. That stuff lasts forever! I may try CSM around the edges, just not sure how good i can get it to conform to the edges.
