    Plunge Choke etc

Model number really not necessary. If it has a conventional butterfly type choke you weren't doing anything wrong. Keep at it. As far as you having it adjusted rich, as long as you don't get too carried away, you likely weren't doing anything wrong there either. Rich settings make for easier...

In search for a 17 ft deck boat

The only suggestions I would have would be to put your patience hat on, find a different boat, or go with something used....

    Bolting motor to transom

If you go with the 5200 sealant in the holes, which is a good plan, changing the bolts annually is going to make a mess. Use stainless....

    Pontoon Trailer Need

Cleaning that carb may not even require a kit if you're careful. Excellent DIY project if you take the time and patience. Carb cleaning WAY high on my to do list when I get a motor. Probably right even with the pump and thermostat...... Sounds like a great buy. Best of luck on your project! -Al

After seeing the pics, agreed. That looks pretty hopeless.

Sun Tracker 22' DLX pontoon Fishing Replacing Tubes where to Buy ?

Is the damage something a good welder could handle? Here in Florida there are a lot of guys fabricating boats from scratch. When faced with the freight of bringing new tubes down from the north, plus the price, then adding in the time required to fasten the new tubes under the deck, you should...

    Quicksilver 3000 series throttle

Keep looking for it. It should be run either internal to, or next to the main harness coming from the motor.

    Pontoon portable tank

    1. 12 gallon tanks are incredibly heavy when full. Heavy enough where loading and unloading them will be something nobody will ever look forward to. 2. Then, there the fact 18' pontoons don't like a lot of weight back there to start with. I would suggest that even with hard use, a single 6...

    Bolting motor to transom

I would add that leaving a 1/2" or so gap over the top of the transom (between motor and transom) is a pretty common practice.

    1987 johnson v4 110 cyl 4 not running

I'm looking at the comment that it runs on muffs but not in the water. This leaves me wondering if it's a carb issue as well. Maybe carb sync?

Is it safe to weld a winch post to the coupler?

Moral of that story here has me wondering what would have happened if that hitch had not "popped off". You don't always build for crash survive ability. Consider how heavy an airplane might get for instance? Much smarter to build to prevent crashes..... Another example might be a ball joint...

1993 MerCruiser 4.3L V6 RAN OUT OF OIL

IMHO, if it's knocking after being refilled, it needs to be pulled down, period. There is no point guessing, all you're accomplishing is delaying the inevitable. Energy spent screwing around could be more wisely spent admitting it's broken, and moving toward fixing it. Hard pill to swallow, but...

Johnson 40 HP without a generator charging system

It seems to me like, and these memories are going WAY back, that some of those early electric start 40's did not have charging systems, nor did they need them! A good running 40 starts nearly immediately, and would run almost all summer on a charge.

    Pontoon Trailer Need

These scissor trailers have a really narrow wheel base, are EASILY tipped because this results in them being so top heavy. It happens all the time. USUALLY, it just scrapes up the bottom of the toons, and then plops back down. Makes a huge racket. There's no way on God's earth you won't know it...

    Pontoon Trailer Need

Boat to the trailer straps in each corner should be plenty. If you cool it when turning a corner you should be fine. I saw some idiots from a local marina take a corner too fast, fast enough for the 'toon to end up on it's side. As if that wasn't bad enough, the battery then shorted out...

Boat mooring in rocky areas (aluminum boat)

I'm not sure regarding the pallet plan, as generally you wouldn't have anything like that handy, but the carpet plan, that seems much more "doable". A moldy old life jacket or PFD you've been wanting to toss? Just make sure you take it with you afterward.... And getting creative is ALWAYS a...

Boat mooring in rocky areas (aluminum boat)

That would make more sense. A local with a well chosen spot, or maybe a rental boat.... I have a 22' alum deck boat here on the Gulf Coast, and there are oyster shoals everywhere - hard as a rock, but with much sharper edges. That doesn't mean though, that pulling up to a beachy area is...

Boat mooring in rocky areas (aluminum boat)

I'm afraid I'm going to need to see a picture of a 105' yacht beached anywhere, let alone on a rocky shore. Either that's a bit of a stretch or I haven't had enough coffee to get my imagination calibrated correctly this morning. Moored alongside a big rock with 10' of water in front of it would...

    Pontoon Trailer Need

Second the scissor option. Just COOL it going around corners!! And be aware that there are different length trailers so that different length boats fit correctly, allowing for some tongue weight on the tow vehicle so it pulls properly. For instance, a trailer set up for a 28' 'toon, backed...
