This is going to be an awesome project. Watching with interest. I can’t get over how big that splashwell is and how low it dips down. I’d want to get rid of it too.
I picked up two sheets of 5/8 ACX plywood today. We are on lockdown. Curbside pick up only. I was running around like a chicken without a head in town today picking up a bunch of things. Brakes for the wife’s car, stuff for Mother’s Day, lumber store. Etc etc.
The guys through the plywood in my...
Welcome, let’s see some pics?
it could be restorable, or if it has seen a lot of corrosion via saltwater, stray electrical currents or other organic contributors, it could be toast.
Let us have a peek before you do anything
Got pix?
My 16’ super sport has only had water come in the drain tubes at a super steep launch.
Under normal use, not even with a 65hp merc, an 8hp kicker, 3 cans of fuel and a battery in the back...plus waterlogged foam, 2 plys of rotten ply and my fat arse...in swells on Lake Huron....the...
Yes, you’re right the stringers do get taller towards the bow. I’m planning on keeping the compartment door back so it’s swing isn’t between the helms. I was planning a drop in deck over the bow footwell area, but I might build a drop in live well to fill that space.
Thanks Chris, and @jbcurt00
This is to laminate a one or two pieces of 5/8 ply to the underside of a new 5/8” ply floor for flange mounted seat posts. I’m not going too crazy with it. (Nothing more than old timers formula and a few coats of spar underneath. This is a dry stored, fair weather...
Welcome to the forum. There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of discussions on utility V or Jon’s here like on some of the small tin boat focused sites. Hopefully someone can help you
I think I can make enough room for six rods wide. Maybe the outer tubes will be for rods without reels on them - spares.
I think I can get it to work with my 6’6” rods fully extended. Anything longer will have to be doubled over. I’ve got a 9 foot rod that I’m going to store full length on the...
Here’s some photos of my 1986 60 hp VRO. Not sure if my plumbing meets professional standards or anything. (pros please advise if I’ve done something poorly)
in any case I still can’t get any pictures from underneath the pump.
I dont want to buy a huge amount of glue to laminate some pieces of plywood together, is my best bet to buy those 2 part kits that dispense equally with the shared double plunger?
Or are there other options for waterproof bonds?
I’ll take photos off my 86 60 hp tonight. The intake box is still off of it.
but there’s not too much to the manifold, there’s a 90° plastic fitting that comes out just underneath the pump. A 5/32 inch line go straight up to a couple of plastic T-fittings. The offshoot of those go directly to...
Sorry, it’s the best I can do.
what you can see in the foreground is the oil line with the small sight glass (plastic), And the fuel supply which curls around to the filter And intake port on the pump.
what you can’t see is the vacuum line that goes to the block behind the pump. And the supply...
Flip it is easiest, but a cradle works, especially if you don’t wish to pull the motor. Sling cradles are especially handy because you can angle the boat up side to side so you don’t have to roll around on a creeper.
