    Newbie with 76 holiday

I’d say strip the paint first in case heavy coating of a repaint is actually preventing the rivet to leak.

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

That’s awesome. Can’t wait to see how it turns out. I picked up Nautolex for my project. I find it can be a little slippery. I guess you have to be a little careful with the gasoline. But I think you’re putting in a gas tank anyway?

    Questions about my hull

Welcome, sharp looking boat. Does it have the small splashwell or the large “bathtub”?

The novice build: 1968 Starcraft SuperSport V-16 "The Boat"

Sorry to hear of your difficulties and of the other boat that didn’t pan out. What’s your POA now?

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Love that banjo wheel!!! how do you feel about the flooring? (Traction and product quality, not color) I think I saw similar product used on tiny boat nation. It comes in a teak pattern. Could be kind of cool for my next project

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Thanks. I’ll check for parallel. Mine have to be re-riveted they’re sloppy and wobbly. I might add stringer extensions forward also. Doesn’t seem to be enough support from the stringer ends to the front of the bow. I think I’m going to keep my compartment as forward as possible so there’s more...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Thanks, agreed. Do you recall the width of your locker? I’m not sure if there’s enough depth for a pair with reels attached except for maybe in the centre of the V (planning a V shape pan inside to shadow the hull shape) Towards the outsides the pan can only be 3-3.5” or so. Ok for spare rods...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

I’ve decided to use Neoprene well nuts which expand instead of making stainless clips etc

    Through floor fastening ideas?

Thanks Scott. I totally agree. The pedestal seats will have a second plate beneath with stainless T-nuts in them. The low dome Springfield flange will be a permanent one time installation. it’s only the sleeper seats that will be moved in and out periodically. I like the idea of the expanding...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Hey guys any of you have a rod locker the centre floor of your 16 foot super sport? My boat is gutted to the gills. To save me a trip to storage to pull out my sleeper seats etc.,im hoping I could get a rough width between the seats. I don’t want it to be too crowded but I also want the rod...

Fastening choices - floor replacement in aluminum boat.

I’m tossing up ideas on how to clad my plywood floor with nautolex and I’m seeing 2 choices; Option a) clad/wrap each board with nautolex and rivet through with a series of large flange rivets everywhere. It’s going to be a busy look but easiest to pull off. Pros; not easily done but I can...

Anyone own a big hardtop Chief?

I wonder if there’s enough sit up room at the centre of the v bunk to put a small cassette toilet underneath.

    Through floor fastening ideas?

I’m in the midst of redoing my floors. It might sound odd, but I’m trying to make my sleeper seats unbolt from the floor so I can drop in swivel seats to a Springfield socket mound hidden beneath. Family boat to pro fisher in 2 minute swap. I want to use stainless T nuts below the floor, say...

How to build back to back seats.

That’s a sharp boat! Admittedly, the original Starcraft seats were nicer, wider and had very slightly bolstered sides than the new offerings out there. I’d like to find updated knock offs

How to build back to back seats.

I call them sleeper seats. Agreed, unless you have deep pockets or a pal with an industrial machine

How to build back to back seats.

Just buy new ones. I would have recovered my originals but that was too costly and the bases were toast. The new ones are made on injected molded vinyl clad bases. No wood to rot

Outboard work stand with hoisting abilities?

I've been using a 300 or 400 lb hitch mounted game hoist for lifting OMC triples lately. I built a an oversized kickdown shop crane (cherry picker style) that can lift pickup boxes and cabs. and even an 1400 lb Lincoln SA 200 welder, but its way too big and cumbersome to set up for small jobs...

Floor replacement on my 1987 Starcraft Islander 221V

Another question, and I hope it adds value to the OP’s question; if MDO can be found in only good one side, should that side face the bilge if the carpet or vinyl on the top be considered waterproof? all cuts treated with epoxy to seal?
