    How old is your outboard?

I’m starting to think online is going to have to be my option of choice. Which is too bad, I like the saying “shop at the stores you want to keep” AKA, support local.

    How old is your outboard?

I was just using a 45 year old motor. are these just for fun, or your main motors?

    How old is your outboard?

For all of you recreational boaters, how old is your outboard? I just “upgraded” to a 1995 and I’m wrenching on an 1986 and 1990 for fun. The parts dealers I’m dealing with are saying they “don’t stock parts on motors that old”. I find that statement quite odd because there are millions of...

Questions on flushing fuel pump and fuel line replacement

Thanks. I’ve disconnected VRo. Will be doing premix. Carbs are completely rebuilt. what about the loose fittings on the pump? Should they spin or can I expect leaks or loss of suction?

Questions on flushing fuel pump and fuel line replacement

thank you no I just acquired this motor last fall. I’m going through everything. Hasn’t run in a long time. I know the previous owner tried to get it going recently. Something I just noticed, is that the fuel inlet and outlet barbs on the pump spin when I’m trying to put a fresh line on. I’m...

Questions on flushing fuel pump and fuel line replacement

Hey everybody I’m working on a 1986 60 hp VRO. J60TLCxx . I have rebuilt the carbs. Currently working through replacing all the fuel lines. I think I found what killed this motor, the lower carb was full of oil. The fuel line just inside the connecter was totally plugged solid with crap, which...

    1973 ISLANDER REFIT

That was a rude wake up call wasn’t it? What about the fabric garage shelters? Sell it when you’re done the project? Or keep it for dry storage?

Boat mooring in rocky areas (aluminum boat)

Thanks guys. The choice will certainly be to find a protected cove. The water is on Georgian Bay can get pretty rough. Lots of windy days. Trouble is where I’m looking to go camping is popular spot. It can be slim pickings when busy. I guess I’m looking for ideas on how to prevent damage in...

Boat mooring in rocky areas (aluminum boat)

This is the typical shoreline of these waters. Pulling up on shore is not an option (16 foot riveted deep v with front mounted troller and dual group 27‘s upfront)

Boat mooring in rocky areas (aluminum boat)

Ah, the keel shield looks like a nice product but I’ve got a riveted boat. I guess I’ll have to be careful and tie up suspended with tag lines or find submerged timber’s or smooth rock to tie along side if I can’t beach

Boat mooring in rocky areas (aluminum boat)

Oops, sorry that should have said; “might NOT work in all cases”...typo. I was imagining offloading the boat being careful at the shoreline, tying loosely off at a tree and use a tag line or two to pull the boat out a bit and tie off again allowing for some movement in the waves/ boat wakes...

Boat mooring in rocky areas (aluminum boat)

Hey guys, what’s the best way to moor along side Rocky shorelines? I want to do some boat out camping and the waters I love are almost always rocky and rugged. It’s an older boat but I don’t want a pile of bruises or scratches. Bumpers feel like they might work in all cases

    1972 Starcraft Nova

Waterman has a great sticky on solid rivets. You could have 5/32 or 3/16 thick. .080” thick 5052 aluminum is my thought. 3/8” long rivet for 2ply, 7/16” for 3ply
