    1972 Starcraft Nova

Aircraft spruce for clecos and rivet removal tool (centring and depth limiting device) and JayCee for rivets and brazier setting head for your air chisel/hammer. Yes cheap air hammer is fine)

    1972 Starcraft Nova

Old timers formula. I do the same but with Spar over top. Then wrap with nautolex. Maybe not as good as epoxy, but fine for my boat which is dry stored 48-50 weeks of the year.

Oh I thought all those files were corrupted since the new format change over. I was digging around in the secret files the other day and everything I clicked on opened up unrelated threads

    1973 ISLANDER REFIT

Apologies, I wasn’t trying to hijack your thread. I love talking boats and our local waters. PM me if you need a handful of rivets. decking is an interesting choice. What about using sheet 5052 and rhino lining it? I’m wondering if there will be torsional stresses on the planks

    1973 ISLANDER REFIT

I’m on the other side of the GTA. mostly small lakes in Wellington county, grey-Bruce. With trips to Huron, Lake O west of T.O. And the French River. I’m just in a SS160. Want an Islander someday for a big/little family

I found cracks on the top of my motor under the stator

Clearly they didn’t. I’d like to know how they painted these, no idiot with a spray gun could “accidentally” put that much paint on the top. I can’t see them “pouring” paint on top. Odd

    1973 ISLANDER REFIT

Hey, I saw your boat listed on the Jij! You’re a S. Ontario guy too? I’m watching this thread with much interest! if you need some 5/32 dis. solid rivets, I’ve got a ton in 3/8 and 7/16”. Though you probably need 3/16” diameter....

Islander/Chieftain project ponderings. Building the ultimate big water Starcraft?

That’s interesting to know. That 26 Starcraft you posted above is a dandy and a steal IMO

Why do they put so much on? That’s thick!

I found cracks on the top of my motor under the stator

I see it now. Like somebody poured in a ton of paint on top. Quarter inch thick or more. Split like dried Jell-O

I found cracks on the top of my motor under the stator

That sure doesn’t look like aluminum. It’s tearing like composite or hard rubber. Crazy. I’ve never seen aluminum do that. Looks like somebody sealed up the block and hooked it up to 125psi.... watching this thread with interest

Bearing Carrier(Bearing House Assembly) Bolt Head Size

My 60/70’s use a 3/8 socket?. Did a previous owner strip the head? Can you mark the bolt and then gently turn it back, check your progress. Use a flashlight and see what kind of play you have on it before applying pressure.

Large circlips pliers for OMC lower units?

Thanks Scott. If I was doing these all the time, I’d invest in those but this is probably a one or 3 time thing. I’ve found a long cheap pair at our version of grizzly tools. $25...think I’ll try those 1st

Large circlips pliers for OMC lower units?

Would you know how long your pliers are roughly? I bought a large convertible pair at local local supply house. But they’re too clunky to get in to the housing. The handle design doesn’t allow for enough operation either

Anyone know where I can get a large pair of long reach circlip players to remove the double rings in the bottom of Johnson Evinrude triple lower units? everywhere I go only has the small ones. None of the automotive supply houses around have them this hefty thanks
