    Need help with fuel pump

If you resize your pictures to under 700k in size - plenty BIG - you can post them directly to the forum by uploading using the button. All Marine rated mechanical pumps will have some sort of way to handle a ruptured diaphragm. If yours does not, it is probably not a marine pump.

96 5.7L Mercruiser - no compression, water in

This is probably the best wiring diagram for your electric pump. You will need: sealed solenoid switch oil pressure switch 10 amp fuze or circuit breaker Ask away with questions. It is easier than it looks once you get the picture.. Two power sources - ignition switch to oil pressure switch to...

    Preventive maintenance for exhaust risers

Personally, I'l pull them off and see how much erosion there is at the gasket area between exhaust and water jackets. That will tell you how healthy they are and you can make a choice how long until replacement. Here's a nice image found at thehulltruth.

96 5.7L Mercruiser - no compression, water in

Here's a screenshot of a Mercruiser parts page that shows the OEM setup. I stuck an arrow on my photo below. I also pulled the big hose off the water pump so the pump would be visible behind it. The fuel pump bracket is just screwed right to the front of the block, a threaded hole...

    1987 4.3l interchangeability

I used the OEM pump so I could use all the mounting hardware and stainless line going to the carb. You have to wire this in with an oil pressure switch inline to power the pump so that the pump turns off if the engine dies. Pic below is how I set up my 4.3. You can see the pump. The mounting...

alpha one gen 2 vibration clunking

Sounds like crappy u-joints to me. I'd be replacing them. You can use automotive ones, lots cheaper and exactly the same thing. Alternate U-joint part numbers.... Any time you hear noise and vibration when you turn you should suspect u-joints. Even new ones can have needles missing or a...

96 5.7L Mercruiser - no compression, water in

If you have roller cam and lifters then the retainers use that plate to keep them in place. Flat tappets, no retainers. When I added an electric fuel pump I decided to use the OEM setup. I purchased the fuel pump bracket, o-rings and brass nipples along with the stainless line to the carb from...

Water might squirt out a little more if the dam is missing in the lower.

    Gardening

No Title Your garden is beautiful! So much work went into that. You should be proud as can be. Looks like you can grow some plants that my season is too short for. You do not need to become royalty of rotting things to have a small working compost pile to feed your plants. I know folks have...

    Gardening

I am all sorts of jealous at the moment. Here in Northern Idaho, at 3500 ft, we have had a couple inches snow in the last 30 days, lots of cold rains and not a lot of heat. Just a couple days near 80. My garden is just getting going. The corn is literally just peeking through. The tomatoes are...

    1991 4.3l merc first run.

I couldn't find a good picture of engine oil, but here's one of sampling fuel in a glass jar. From the top it will look normal. Gotta dump it in glass to see if it separates any water.

    Shift cable routing?

Batt cable routing is boat specific and dependent on battery mounting location. Just keep it neat and where they can't rub through. Shift cable is as below.

    My first AR 15

gm280 MTboatguy Remington is all I've used for many years in small rifle primers. Winchester for most of my pistol loads. I got a buy on them years back and still have 50 or 60k small mag pistol for my 38 Super that I built in the late 80's. Given a choice, that is what I like to spend the...

    1998 Mercruiser lower unit repair

Some of crack between tube and shift shaft maybe? If so, should be oil in the speedo plastic tube which would show if the coupler were pulled loose and inspected.

impeller shaft rubber piece proper installation

Both seals go into the carrier. There are always two seals when there is water on one side and oil on the other, such as in the input shaft for the lower case. The lips and springs face outwards - up for the top one and down for the bottom one. Bottom seal keeps oil in and top seal keeps water...

Don't know where to start. So many problems with 95 Crownline

Dave, In your picture, I highlighted the stringers that form the basis of the structure of your hull. Splicing in sections is very carefully done, like building a truss to hold up the roof, the stringers keep the hull straight and not only prevent it from folding up, but even more keep it from...

Don't know where to start. So many problems with 95 Crownline

Yes, you can break up the hull if the stringers and bulkheads - and floor - are not structurally sound. When I replaced a transom and built new motor mounts I used 2 gallons of epoxy resin and 5 yards of clothe. Your job is bigger than mine was and will need even more materials (there are a...
