    If it has electric start it probably has a "generator". It won't look like a belt driven alternator on your car. An easy way to check if it has the ability to charge a battery is to check the voltage at the battery when the motor is running above idle. You should get 13-15 volts.

    With the height of your transom you might find the short shaft motor too short to be used easily unless it has electric start and remote throttle.

    Why not let us know where you are? Someone might be able to help you then. Have you checked out the "local dmv" website? How about a local insurance agent if your DMV uses those? I know in Manitoba it used to be easy to register a trailer as home built but not anymore.

    Surge Brakes

    One way to test them is to jack a wheel off the ground and activate the surge unit manually while spinning the wheel. You can use that technique to bleed them as well. If you're going downhill and try use the brakes you can feel the trailer pushing you if the brakes aren't working.

    I'm guessing it takes a bit for the bluetooth to time out so it doesn't lose the connection and have to reconnect if you shut the motor off for a couple of minutes and then restart.

    The housing should be 1/4"-18 NPSF which is a straight pipe thread. I'm not sure about the cable fitting. I just measured the cable fitting and it seems to be 1/4" NPT tapered.

    Did you use pan head screws with the lock washers and did you use a flat countersink bit beforehand or just run them in? I like that idea for areas that might need to be accessed.

    I don't know about you but if I could lift the tongue on that rig then it's way to little tongue weight. Part or all of your problem could be the tail wagging the dog. Try it with more tongue weight. Either move the boat forward or the axle back.
