    Water pressure eventually ( as you go faster )pushes the tabs up., usually even with the transom . Main purpose is to keep bow down while getting on plane . The trim switch I would guess is for trimming your outdrive, need more info.

    Your RPMs are in the MFGs recommended range , so I would stick with that prop. Odds are your carb is gummed up and letting to much fuel in while your trolling around.     Mirror or cell camera will work in those tight quarters. Which is not that tight seeing you have a swim platform you should be able to crawl up on that and look at the HIN with your own eyes.

    HIN number should be on the upper right hand corner of the transom . They are not on the side of the hull. Last two digits are the year it was built. More info can be extrapolated from those numbers as well.

    It's a well designed and built boat. I highly doubt that company did not put a separate on off switch in for that function. Probably going to be a pain to trace the wire but you should be able to , start from behind your gauges and work backwards from there. Most boats do not have owners manuals...

    Don't think.the Carver when new was 1,000 times better than the Bayliner. I believe there motor yachts are built in a different plant than the junk that created there reputation. Quality control and gear they put on it are day and night different than the under 30' boats they produce.
