    Prop spin

    If its the prop hub to casting slipping it's very easily diagnosed. Just scribe a line from the innermost piece of metal (spline) out to the outer most piece of metal (barrel) and take it out and run it. Remove the prop and look at the line. If intact, gear problem....if distorted, hub problem.

    Expect the trim tab to have different effects as its contact with the water changes as the angle (trim) changes. If you don't want prop torque feedback, install a "no feedback" steering system...solves that problem but is a little harder to steer...but no biggie for me, I'll take the NFB hands...

    Not having read any of the replies, the service manual doesn't say to use 87 it says that 87 is the minimum. If you use the minimum of things, expect minimum results. I switched to premium quite awhile ago and I get much better overall performance. My money, engine, and decision.

    I think OMCs pretty much ran 4500 to 5500 with the HP established at 5000. Also assume OMC 70's were geared about 2.5-1. If I am wrong, just change the gear ratio on the calculator, re calculate max speed, keep the same prop slip and solve for speed...
