    89' 90 H.P. 3 Cylinder 2 Stroke Battery Charging Issue

Quoting from memory as my manuals are out in the shop, the rectifier/regulator uses AC power inputs from the stator's 2 yellow leads, both isolated from ground...battery -. The wires are: Yellow pair are AC input Grey is tach signal Black is ground Large diameter red is regulated 12v output to...

    89' 90 H.P. 3 Cylinder 2 Stroke Battery Charging Issue

If you have a black 9 amp stator you don't need a regulator/rectifier module. If you have a Red 16 amp stator, you need a regulator/rectifier module. The junction box was eliminated in later model engines like my 2002 90 triple with the red 16 amp stator with the regulator/rectifier and...

Merc 2006 50 hp 2 stroke carb tubing size help

Mercury zip ties are specially designed in that the locking part of the tie isn't flat but has an additional arc that, when the tie is tightened, closes the open area between normal ties locking section and strap.....to prevent your problem. If iboats doesn't have them ebay or your marine...

Do older aluminum boats have the same issues with waterlogged foam?

Back in about 1985 I bought a 1965 Alumacraft 18' Holiday I/O that had been sitting in a marina tied to a dock but the transom area was under water. I restored the boat and used the same white (moldy) Styrofoam bats that were in it originally and had enough structural integrity for me to hold...

115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

My last prop purchase was a SS Solace 4 blade $275. Sometimes money isn't everything and that price for that prop and its performance is a bargain.

    Bowriders that handle waves well?

Without reading other's comments, The deeper the V and heavier the boat, the softer the ride. Undesirable side effects: The longer to get on plane and the more HP required to propel the boat (with and without water toys in play) at a given speed. With that said and having had the same problem...

Spark plug issue on 90 HP Mercury 2004 O\B 2 strike

I ran the alternate gapped plug (in the service manual) in my 2002 90 and got better service. I suppose my boating habits were more suited to that plug than the SG. As I understand it, the SG stands up to lots of long runs at WOT. I ran them in a 1988 115 tower of power and they were a...

Bottom Painting for salt water slip

Back in the late 1950's when I obtained my first boat, I painted it with Interlux paint and having purchased it used from a guy who sold paint, that was his choice. Seems they have survived the test of time.....mark of a quality product.

    75HP Force/Mercury 2-Stroke Stalls at Odd Times

I had a black speck of deteriorated fuel line floating around in the bowl of one of my carbs on my 90 Merc. causing a similar problem on a 10 year old engine running E10. Final solution to the problem was new fuel components in the engine including filter, lines, pump kit and carbs redone and...

    Primer Bulb Recommendation?

Well next time I am in a store I will check my comment's authenticity. I bought one and have it on my boat now and I am sure it was Quicksilver or Mercury brand. What caught my attention was the fact that the primer bulb wasn't the classic diamond shape and I thought that it was peculiar that...

    Primer Bulb Recommendation?

Wally world here sells an OEM 3' hose and bulb for $35...........rediculous pricer but EPA got into the fuel line critique business and they are priced out of sight. Next time you go to an auto parts store for some fuel line hold onto your skivvies.......almost 4 bucks a foot! Wonder what's...

115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

Hard to get 2% on anything. My guess would be more like 20%. Reason why is too much of the surface that would otherwise ride ON the water is IN the water.

100hp mariner starts but doesn’t keep running

On the Mercury of that HP the idle set screw is on the spark advance lever, not the carburetor control linkage. The manual states that you get in the water with the engine running, F gear, control set to idle, fast idle off, and adjust the screw (timing, white knurled knob ss spring loaded...

Mercury 250 hp V8 vs Mercury Verado 250 hp V8

The prop is part of your gear train. Engine RPM/lower unit reduction ratio x prop pitch, assuming equal prop slip and identical props other than pitch will give you the same number. I never did figure out why things like the 90 hp Merc runs a 2.33:1 gearbox and the 115 runs a 2.0 on the same...

Mercury 650 Pee Hole - Volume of water?

Dirt dobber could have made a nest in the outlet. Follow the hose back to the source...probably exhaust manifold water jacket. Pull the hose off and run the engine at idle I'd say shooting straight out the back, hose and cowling off, maybe 4' and strong, not spewing. A Harbor Freight...

100hp mariner starts but doesn’t keep running

Keep us posted. Fuel pressure is like a few pounds at idle and something like 12 +/- at WOT as I recall.....or maybe that's cooling water pressure I'm remembering. Bullet proof test for the fuel pump if in doubt, squeeze the bulb if in doubt.

    Shocks

Ok. I didn't go into the subject mentally at the time. Just seemed to be what they did which made a lot of sense to me....course I liked the between the transom brackets later models used better for when you are up and running and hit a submerged object.
