    Transom replacement or design flaw?

The wood looks like it dried out and delaminated. I would get some 3/4" exterior grade plywood, laminate two pieces together to make a new transom and be back on the water by the weekend

    Filet Table Engine Cover

I wouldn't use wood, or anything as heavy as oak. Use a 1/2" piece of starboard, make a raised lip around the sides like a tray.

There would be no profit in making a boat perfect back then. Your boat was designed to last no more than 15 years and it's now 45 years old. So good enough was really good enough Today, they have CNC cut material and molded stringer tubs. However the boats are still slapped together as fast...

    !/2 ton Truck towing limitations

The class 4 hitch is more than capable The transmission, transmission cooling, axle bearings, rear springs and chassis strength along with a bunch of CYA legal speak are what puts the 5000# sticker on your truck The WDH requirement is a legal band-aid from those that do not know what you are...

Usually Air Bags are all that is needed to not squat. But agree, they do not add capacity or change the weight distribution in a static condition. They may change the dynamic condition a bit as the rear thrust angle geometry changes a bit with squat

Just love it when lawyers get involved with hitch ratings.... A true class 4 hitch is rated for 10k tow and 1000# of tongue weight However can the truck handle the tongue weight? As AD mentioned, it needs the tow package and tow max axle for the higher tow rating. The truck is more than...

Never use a vacuum advance distributor on a boat. Use a good marine distributor I would use a Holley carb over a Rochester, since the Rochester hasn't been built since 1989 I would also use a Holley over an Edelbrock
