Bimini top seems to have shrunk

My top may not be actually Sunbrella but one of the cousins.

Bimini top seems to have shrunk

I have a several year old Bimini type of top that is fitted to the windshield and has side panels, etc. Boat is 27' sport cruiser. Top is not ripped or beat up. I am unable to pull it hard enough to get it close to the windshield to snap it. It's Sunbrella or a similar fabric. I asked a...

To Drain Or Not To Drain

FWC solves most of the problems. Just pull a few hoses and the blue plastic drain plugs. Ten minutes tops.

    New to Volvo family

Pull the intake hose to the raw water pump and see if water comes out there, if so you should be OK. Or use the flush connection instead. Its possible there is a one way valve. Not sure. I do know that if the flush connection is not tight you can suck in air.

Few power after hitting a log

I would start with the prop. Aluminum or SS? What does the prop look like. Normal or chewed up?

    Volvo Penta OBD port

I have the Diacom software loaded on a small laptop and the Diacom adapter. It's a great product. If you do your own mechanic work on your marine engine and it's got a port to connect to, then sooner or latter you will need the Diacom.

    Beeps when battery turned on

The basic test is to charge the battery on a plug in charger. Disconnect and wait overnight to eliminate the surface charge. Retest with a DVM. Full charge is 12.64 V for a normal lead acid flooded cell battery. With the engine running and alternator working properly the voltage should be at...

    Beeps when battery turned on

I would not make decisions based upon a helm gauge. I would use a decent DVM to verify the reading of the helm voltage gauge. A $40 voltmeter will do. You don't need a Fluke.

    Sharrow propellers

Has anyone seriously looked at Sharrow propellers? For my VP DuoProp the pair would be $8800 and a delivery date of 2026.

    Beeps when battery turned on

The battery should be checked with a load tester, not a voltmeter. If you can, bring the alternator to a starter/alternator rebuild shop that would be best. The problem with the alternator (if there is one) is probably either brushes or a diode. There are 6 diodes in the full wave bridge...

Brass block drain plug leaking like a sieve

I am thinking there is an issue between SAE thread and NPT thread. You can use Teflon tape on NPT threads. The adaptor mentioned is good but it reduces the diameter and chunks of rust can jamb the adaptor. So when draining the block one needs to stick a long nail all the way through the...

    Beeps when battery turned on

There are several things that can drain the battery. CO detector. VP Active Corrosion Protection. Refrig. Stereo on but turned down, cabin lights.

    This boat… always something…popping today

Sounds like the place selling gas has an issue. I would notify them. Was the gas E10? If phase separation occurred the only solution is to pump out the old gasoline, flush the fuel lines and refill with fresh gas. If it's E10 it has up to 10% alcohol and that will absorb some water and that...

7.4 L Volvo Penta turned into a milkshake - what to tell the mechanic

I have watched some YT from Dave's Auto. He has a big repair and machine shop in Utah. He has a SIM tester where he can put an engine on and turn over the engine at various speeds to test it out before spending the time to install the engine.
