    '90 Maxum 2100SR - restoration & conversion

My stringers are 6" high. If I did a scarf using the height dimension, it would be nearly 6' long. I am doing the scarf in the 3/4 thickness of the ply. When I did some research, it seemed that was the way most people did it on stringers. With the epoxy joint, it should be plenty strong...

I am doing a 12:1 scarf joint; so, it will be about 8" long. I will be gluing it with thickened epoxy. I used Titebond III to glue the layers of ply for the transom. I am leaning toward, maybe, using epoxy to glue the transom wood to the hull; but am also considering PB or PL glue.

I made the run to Gulfport this morning to pick up CSM, 1708, resin, hardener, and a couple other things. Great people over there at the shop. Prices very comparable to ordering online especially when you co sider shipping g and hazmat fees. I also went to the lumber yard and picked up some...

Since the upgrade to the forum, links in the locked threads (e.g., in the restoration forum how to's) are now broken. They send you to the wrong threads.

Looks like my pictures back on post #72 didn't load up properly; so, here they are again. I think that I am done grinding for now and ready to go back in with the transom and stringers. Loving this cooler weather!! Here is a picture of the bow section: Here is a look at the aft area...

Here are a couple pictures of the progress so far. I think that I have decided to wait to cut and grind above the deck stuff until after I have the deck back in.

    '90 Maxum 2100SR - restoration & conversion

Working on more cutting out old fiberglass & wood and performing inspections. Now that I have the vast majority of the floor out, I'm looking hard at the stringers & motor mounts. I'm certain that I have some replacement to do at least on the rear (stern) half of the stringers. The...

    '90 Maxum 2100SR - restoration & conversion

Now that my old fuel tank has been out of the boat for a while, it appears that most of the deformity has gone away. I'm thinking that this is due to the shrinking of the poly as the old fuel evaporates out of it. When inspecting the tank, I found that there is a gouge in the edge of the...

    '90 Maxum 2100SR - restoration & conversion

Well, picture attachments are working again I see. So, here are a couple pictures of the deck removal progress to date. You can see in the first picture, that there is only a small section in the bow that still needs to be rough cut out. The second picture shows looking toward the stern...

    '90 Maxum 2100SR - restoration & conversion

I bought this 1990 Maxum 2100SR Bowrider a few years ago to use as a fish & ski. It has a 4.3L Mercruiser Alpha 1 and has been a pretty good platform for me and my family to use on the water. I'm about to embark on a project to restore her and convert her to be a more utility fish & ski...
