What make and computer system to replace my Windows 10 before October 14 ?

I mean its a Corvette so space is at a premium lol. The problem with the big laptops was they always wore the leather on the seat. Not an issue with throwing it under the seat for a datalog. I also prefer W10 as they took the apple approach with 11... features dumbed down so someone isn't...

    Wakeboat bans

My problem is they always seem to be in the most narrow thruway of a lake when they're out there. Coincidentally they rarely seem to go out on the bay. A secluded area is one thing, but messing up everyone and everything in a known pinch point that everyone needs to get through is not okay....

    1985 Starcraft porpoising issue. Prop??

I agree with Scott. No gauge needed. My boat kind of tells you when its happy... Tucked in hammer down. Bow drops start tapping up on the trim. The steering will loosen up first followed by a 2-400 rpm jump when you hit the sweet spot. Water off the sides is typically near the last third of the...

What Brand of Brake pads are best quality? What do you guys use for quality?

The oe parts I get come in a box that just says GM. The service parts are ACdelco typically... I think the way it works is GM genuine and ACdelco original equipment are the factory install parts, only difference is the box. Then the acdelco gold is the old professional which is service grade...

What Brand of Brake pads are best quality? What do you guys use for quality?

I've used most the pads mentioned in this thread. I've gone back to using GM on mine... mostly because my friend at the dealer makes them "fall" off the back of a truck for me. The 3/4 and 1 tons go 100k hauling trailers around town using them... no reason to swap. I tried EBC on my daily last...

What make and computer system to replace my Windows 10 before October 14 ?

I actually ended up with a windows surface about 5 years ago... I wanted something smaller than a full size laptop for tuning the car. This I can plug in, toss under the seat with a data log running and go for a ride then do final tuning comfortably in a parking lot. That said if you use a...

How much slip does your prop have ?

I stand and don't have that problem most of the time lol. But yeah. Most of my career is data driven as well. It's just the mental midgets above me... well... I'm not going to get started.

How much slip does your prop have ?

Exactly. I haven't fussed around with the fuel burn since it doesnt bother me enough. But RPM, speed, slip, time to plane, how much trim is needed etc are all noted in my logs of testing props over the years. You can quantify bow rise... I have a digital angle meter I messed with over the...

I used up all my curse words yesterday

Hard for the average mall crawler to air down a rubber band for a tire.

I used up all my curse words yesterday

Yeah. 90% of my time is on road so I'd prefer the ride. Service between the two is about the same otherwise. I've pulled a lot of guys out of the sand on the outer banks in 2wd even though they had 4wd. The driver mod is real and most people can't drive as luck would have it. :p

I'll trade your solid front axle with a torsion bar IFS. Otherwise yeah. Those I6s are damn near bullet proof.

How much slip does your prop have ?

It's not a tool so much as its data to compare against. My hull likes lower slip. Others have run better in the 15-18% range (better planing and speeds despite higher slip and less prone to blow out, tested first hand by yours truly) and better resulting fuel burn. It's entirely dependent on so...

    new engine overheats

I think externally they are identical. But yes. I don't think its the issue... just worth checking.

I used up all my curse words yesterday

No I meant the XT5 engine is the same more or less as my truck lol. Those high feature 3.6 (the one in the sts) were the ones known for timing chain issues if memory serves. Completely different architecture.

    new engine overheats

5.0 and 5.7 are the same. But if the donor engine was configured for a bravo, the housing would look the same but be different internally and have a different PN.... Chances are its correct but still worth investigating. Again. Not sure it'll cause what you're seeing but just worth confirming is...

    new engine overheats

According to merc they are different part numbers because of the difference in flows... simple enough to check just to rule it out. Now can it cause your issue? Not sure. But if you're bypassing too much water (higher flow bravo housing say) then I could see it.

    new engine overheats

Just out of curiosity... is that the thermostat housing from the old engine or is that what came with the new one? Is there a part number anywhere? Does it say alpha on it anywhere? I can't tell from the photos is why I ask. They are different and its simple to rule out.

How much slip does your prop have ?

Unless its excessive slip, it really doesn't matter in the way people think it would... You can have a 23p with 25% slip that'll run near a 19p with single digits and have the same speed at any given RPM. I've tested props that behave that way and the only thing I've noticed is that they tend to...

Same 3.6 more or less. Job only takes an hour, not too bad. I've had... well much much worse. Obviously different in a rwd vehicle. There's good access

    Time to replace tires?

My fun tire story is a few years ago we came back from the lake. (150 mile drive.) I back in the driveway, wash the boat etc. My post trip inspection revealed that sometime between leaving that morning and coming home, about half the tread of both tires completely delaminated... mind you they...
