    SBC breakin time

I did my first change a little short... about 11 hours. Then the second one at 37 additional hours. I had a suspicion of water intrusion which is why I changed early.

    BMW headlight . . . $1,000 !!!

I could see that high of a price to replace the housing if its like my 19. The whole front clip needs to come off to get to it. And if it is adaptive I'd imagine there's a reprogramming associated with. Plus typical dealer BS... yeah I can see it.

N Y requires everyone to pass a powerboat operators license

The state actually assigned me if I remember correctly. It didn't really matter. I practiced inline backing in the work trucks, with trailers and CDL drivers etc. I was expecting so much more from it. That and the fact I'd been driving boats since I was like 4.

N Y requires everyone to pass a powerboat operators license

My driver's license road test was about 30 seconds. Parallel parking, 2 stop signs and a stop at the start. May as well have been written only.

Climbing a hill or if you need to accelerate, higher wattage means it'll do that faster should you need to. Starting to roll etc. At least I would think....

    Boat budget question

I always broke it down as maintenance and Spring tune up is an operating expense. Same as fuel and anything else needed to run through the year. One time improvements (deck, upholstery, stereo, engine/repower, etc.) Are considered capital expenses to me. Long term improvements. Do I need it to...

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

Safest bet is put it back as it was only better. Mine had a "keel stringer" but it really was only under the fuel tank and I assume for support of the weight. (Triangle for strength) I extended it a foot or so in either direction because my fuel tank was larger and I figured it would tie in the...

    E bikes

It's almost always a cheap charger and or poor quality batteries with horrible battery management causing the fire. We get calls nearly non-stop for them. It's almost never a name brand component but rather a off brand/lower quality piece. The cordless drill components and the like are under way...

N Y requires everyone to pass a powerboat operators license

At one point I had everything lined up to get my 6-pack. Ultimately, due to other people mostly, I backed out. I didn't want the liability of dealing with some other jerkoff on the water god forbid. It's the same reason, despite my bosses persistence it'll be paid in full, that I won't get my...

    Great loop speed record attempt

I go down to the cape every year. I always knew it was a horrid area, just not how horrid... Then we went to the graveyard of the Atlantic museum one year and I really learned from some guys first hand exactly how dicey it is. It's one of the few times I've ever been on a beach on a calm day...

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

Found the photo from the maiden voyage last fall. I look very concerned.

    Bayliner Floor Project

I'd look a state or two north. It got really cold for people who wouldn't normally winterize their boats and I'm sure in another week or two those will start popping up. Boat trader and the like may also help.

NO insects or spring birds this year.

I've been getting murdered by mosquitoes and other bugs. Plenty of birds chirping when I go to work in the morning. I stand by the truck for a few minutes before leaving just to take it all in. Quite soothing. Ungodly amount of squirrels and chipmunks.

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

8/16/24: Test fitting all the cabin pieces: Looked like something with the original bits installed... Building all the trim pieces for the cabin... Mock up looks good. 8/17/24: Carpeted the seat boxes. Again, not earth shattering.... 8/18/24: Gelcoated the cabin and finished carpeting...

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

I wanted to get the thread updated with all the pictures I couldn't upload in the middle there... So here goes. 7/24/24: Got my continuous wrap of CSM in and over the side compartments. As you can see, they tabbed nicely and I went about half way down the stringer. Completely encapsulating the...

    Bayliner Floor Project

Up to you. If you love the boat, proceed. But if you're not married to it I agree... you may be better off finding a good hull in need of an engine vs putting all the time into it....

    Bayliner Floor Project

This is the biggest thing here. I was only able to finish in ~7 months because I do shift work. So I'm always on 2 off 2 on 3 off 2 on 2 off 3 and then it repeats. And I was able to dedicate 16 hours to it when I did work on it. Most people don't have that luxury at all. All in I spent 68...

    Bayliner Floor Project

I'll answer how I feel and based on what I did... My questions are this: What's your overall advice for taking on this kinda project? Take lots of pictures, measurements and drawings before diving in. What ever material you think you need order some extra. And plan on everything being a loss...
