    Can’t Figure out Prop ….

Before spending any hard earned money on a prop, go thru that engine and make sure she is running 100% !! Saw many folks go thru prop trials only to find they had an engine issue...First thing I would check is compression...the 3.0 is noted for warping the head in the center. Not a hard fix...

Operators manual for 1957 Evinrude fastwin 18 hp model 15020?

You are very lucky, I have had a few chances to use the Sealoc and Clymer and found nothing woethwhile in them for serious deep specs. For general info they were just ok...after looking at a true factory service manual, there is a big difference, including trouble shooting and detailed...

Just can not figure it out

Do rhe basics to start, get a facrory service manual, I usually find mine on ebay or craigslist. Don't just clean the carbs, get proper rebuild kits so you have new gaskets, diaphrams needle seats etc. Also proper settings for the carbs after a rebuild. Then a link and syc is needed so the...

    skeg damage ...home repair

There is also a SS unit that slips over broken skags and uses epoxy to hold it in place, no drilling needed. I have heard good things about the epoxy repair units..

    Prop Damage

Yessir....when you strengthen one part, the next weakest will give way, just the law of physics... So which is cheaper, props or rebuilding the gears in the gearcase ?

    Can’t Figure out Prop ….

Some props are stamped on the sides of the hub and others are stamped on the end of the hub, top or bottom. Something like 15x13P. Have ran across a couple that just had a midel number stamped on them and you had to reference a chart. Most of the time the dia and pitch is what is stamped.

Yep, any good plastic shop should be able to replicate what you have.

    Prop Damage

Needs smoothed out, balanced and sharpen up the edges of the blades. Those chewed edges will create air bubbles and lessen performance. Gotta do your best to make all the blades match , then you might be able to get away with it..

Looking for Lowe Bimini Top Mount Screws

I may have found something, not sure how to post the link. They are called female nuts, they look like a screw head but actually have a female thread for a bolt to thread into. They give the appearance of a screw with two heads. Made in SS but have hex socket heads rather than phillips head.

Operators manual for 1957 Evinrude fastwin 18 hp model 15020?

All of my factory service manuals also give starting proceedures, so I would think the service manual would be more valuable..

    Outboard life expectancy

Interesting....my Pennzoil container states the TCW 3 oil can be used in any two stroke engine whether mixed with fuel or in injection systems. Meets all mfgrs specs for both air and liquid cooled engines. Then there is a long list of mfgrs for chain saws, weed eaters, marine outboard motors...

    Outboard life expectancy

The Pennzoil TCW3 that I have used for decades states it can be used for all two stroke engines, both water and aircooled. Never knew there was a different oil for air cooled !! Never had an engine issue and the Pennzoil gives far less smoke than other brands!!

    Misters

If the poster is not capable of finding/ locating/ chasing down the location of a pump, perhaps he shouldn't be a boat owner. There is a certain amount of basic mechanical ability needed to own a boat or take it to a high priced dealer.

    Outboard life expectancy

I have plenty of service shops willing to work on two strokes, it is the four strokes that no one wants to work on, other than routine maintenence. The only shop that will do serious repair on four strokes is the local BassPro shop, but the motor needs to be under warranty, without warranty...

    Prop Damage

No issues yet, however an unbalanced prop will quickly wear out the bearing and possible seals in your lower unit. Just being a metal worker is only a start, can you match the blades, can you balance it ?? It might get you by as an emergency spare to get you back slowly, but for a primary prop...
