Need gas cap for 1994 Larson SEI 174

I don’t know if it will help, but here are some photos of my gas cap from my ‘97 Larson SEI. It looks like a Perko fitting. The collar on the boat (that the cap screws into) has printed on it “Fig. 540”, whatever that means. I didn’t see anything else that looked like a model number on either...

    Air Don't Freeze Winterization

I put the plugs back in. One year, I left them out over winter and it was harder to get the back in. It doesn’t take much rust to make those little blue plugs more difficult to put in.

    Laying the Deck Questions

#8 or #10 stainless. If you can find them, Torx or square slotted screws work much better than Phillips.

    Transom Drilling and Checking

No hole saw! Just a drill bit and inspect the shavings like todhunter‘s picture shows. Also knocking on the boat will tell you virtually nothing. There may be some very experienced folks who can determine the condition by knocking, but for most everyone, it is probably about the most...

    Laying the Deck Questions

The easy way would be to put your PB down, lay the deck boards on top and weigh them down along the stringers (so you're sure they are bedded nicely), and let the PB kick off and harden. Then, drill your holes and screw down. That would be much easier than racing around trying to drive in screws...

    Transom Drilling and Checking

The typical sites for drilling are low on the transom near the hull, around the keyhole (if an I/O), and below any thru-hull fittings (especially those below the waterline). A 1/4" or 5/16" bit works fine, and you only want to drill from the inside of the boat about 1.5" deep to avoid...

    Laying the Deck Questions

I used peanut butter (thickened resin) and screws to hold my deck down.

Fluid Changes for Winterizing, Do I Need to?

I'd be inclined to leave the drive alone... I might remove the lower fill screw just to make sure water or milkshake oil didn't dribble out, but if it looked OK, I'd be comfortable leaving it for a year. Engine oil is interesting. The common wisdom around here is that you should change it...

Questions about redoing floor on '76 'Twain 162

I can't imagine being able to do a good job under those sections without taking off the cap.

    Possibly Purchasing??

Have you looked at this buyer’s checklist? https://forums.iboats.com/threads/for-new-members-needing-help-buying-a-boat-a-buyers-checklist.612841/ It’s all about condition, especially the stuff that’s not immediately obvious. Do you know what year the boat was made?

    2000 Larson 186Lxi

No, I don't think so. Best bet is to post your question and some pics on the General forum and I bet you'll get some suggestions.

Need gas cap for 1994 Larson SEI 174

I have a '97 Larson SEI. When I get home I'll look and see if mine has any manufacturer's mark.

    trailer unknow

What paperwork you have (or is needed) will depend on the state... in Illinois, you'd need to have a title and registration (license plate) for that trailer. Both of those would have make/model/year information.

what are these two holes in bilge area?

I agree, the placement of those holes is curious... was maybe someone checking for rot in the structure and didn't bother to fill the holes? In any case, why is the bilge pump not powered to clear out the water? If the float switch is broken, that's easy to replace. I'd be concerned first...

    winterizing merc?

I put my plugs back in, too, after the engine has drained. The last thing I want to do is hang upside down in the engine bay so I can use a thread chaser to clean out rusty threads. If the water has all drained out, there's no harm in reinstalling them. (Plus, that's one less thing for me to...

Glad it worked out for you!

    Immediate delamination

Yeah, I would soak the rag frequently, scrub the surface, then wipe with a clean cloth. Acetone is cheap compared to resin.

    Immediate delamination

The only thing I could really see that might be an issue is the wiping down with acetone. If there is any surface contamination, you really need to wash it down with acetone; wiping it with a cloth mildly dampened with acetone might not be enough. But even so, it's hard to imagine that would...
