I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Some more pix. I had to hog out part of the throttle handle to allow the new switch to fit. But it's in there! And I'd misplaced those mounting screws but lucked out and found them a couple days ago. ;) I really don't like the TM battery in front of the console due to its 62 pound weight...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Yeah... good ol' 20/20 hindsight. :playful: At the time of installation, I was moving along quickly, was too preoccupied and didn't take enough precautions. Paying for that now. Looking back, I should have gone with my original idea, which was to "sandwich" the seat mounting T-nuts...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

March 2020 The old trolling motor battery sides were swollen, indicating big problems. So I bought a new one a couple days ago! :D

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

February 2020 - part 2. My neighbor bud got the hitch mounted on my Sportage, so it's ready to go when the KF is finished.

February 2020 My friend in his element. Chasing wires! :joyous:

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Yup, I'll be getting those when the time comes. :) Even though I didn't take a lot of pix while my buddy was here, I did get a few. Hopefully, they'll "tide" y'all over. January 2020 We had to overcome a lot of "crud" in the pump/switch/wiring. What looks like sand in the works is...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Hmmm... interesting. I'd not considered bolt direction. I just did a quick look online and the results were mixed. Some all in, others all out and others in combination. :noidea: The bolts I've already installed are gonna stay there since they're sealed in nice and tight with 3M 5200...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

DECEMBER 2019 When I picked up the KF from the marine dealer, they'd successfully installed the motor and steering cables and the engine was "running," albeit with issues. Apparently I'd installed one of the carb flange gaskets backwards. So I'd have to address that myself since...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

NOVEMBER 2019 Time to cut holes for the steering wheel and switch panel. Console mounted. At this point I took the boat to the local marine place. I bought a complete steering system and throttle system and paid them to install that stuff and get the motor running at a basic level. Cost...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

OCTOBER 2019 New steering wheel. :D Throttle ready for installation. The boy got first chance at sanding down the wood filler. I did get my chance as well. :p Then we painted the deck again. We used a large nap roller with traction sand in the paint mix. This pic is while the...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

SEPTEMBER 2019 I bought some custom aluminum plates. The bent piece is 1/4" and is used for the throttle mount. The PO had just used a piece of untreated 1/2" plywood held to the gunnel with a couple of screws. Flimsy. The wood rotted and the screws rusted. Ugh. The other 1/4"...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

AUGUST 2019 White applied to topsides. Masking for the black trim started. One thing I learned in all my research was that once the paint is dry enough, get it outside in the sun to expedite the drying process! Otherwise, if it's left in an enclosed space, it'll get dull and take longer...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

JUNE 2019 We built some underdeck braces and a topside trolling motor spacer from 3/4" plywood and treated them all with OTF.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Here we go... MAY 2019 What "got me going" again back in late May was that I finally convinced a neighbor buddy to create and weld the trailer extension into place for me. He used the frame from the old donor boat to create the extension. He also added some uprights made from a bed frame...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Okay, I suppose I should give y'all an update. I did promise one several months back. From January last year until late May, I did no work on the Kingfisher. None. But then I finally got re-motivated. I hope this update works. I keep getting Bad Gateway Error and other forum...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Thanks! My health has greatly improved since last year. The dangerous time is long over but I did have to go on the steroid again back in September in order to start functioning physically normally again. And it's working well! I'm feeling tremendously better and doing just fine. Pretty...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Hi guys. Worry not. I'm fine. Thanks for thinkin' about me! :) Haven't actually logged in since February. Part of the reason is because of all the weird forum issues, including "false" logins. Been very busy but I promise to bring y'all up to date in a month or so. But I'm fine. Went on...

What is your winter weather like?

Sucks. Too warm here. Again. Did the same thing last year in February. Got way too warm then cooled off with some frost again in March. I have home stuff to do which would be much easier in cooler weather.

This is how I did the foam for my Kingfisher.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

The weather was a little warmer today so I tried painting a couple letters again. Not much joy. One thing I thought of the other day while out running errands. As I passed Tractor Supply I realized that they probably sell the Majic paint gloss black in a rattle can. They do. Duh...
